I am finally declaring this project done - which is not to say that it is complete. There are always those little details like the baseboards that i will be getting to all summer.
Here are a few of the early stages. Digging complete and liner ready to lay.
pond pics as promised
so to date 14000 pounds of rock, gravel, sand and slate
way more dollars than i ever imagined and every spare moment for 6 weeks
LOLOLOL......it's priceless Lynn! ;D
If'n I win the lottery I'll be asking for your help designing mine. :)
Everything looks wonderful and I'm so glad to see your water lilies thriving!!!!!!!!!! :D Ü :D
I had to peek again........YOU'VE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB!!!!! Now sit back and enjoy it! Which, knowing you, might be difficult. ;)

Absolutely beautiful, Lynn. I love what you've done. The slate rocks are fabulous and look perfect around the pond. It was a lot of work, I could tell from the progress in pictures, but obviously well worth it. Going to get any Koi?
I wouldn't advise purchasing Koi. Koi will eat water lilies and the roots of any floaters in the pond (ie water hyacynth and water lettuce). Smaller floaters that other fish won't eat will also be gobbled up by the Koi.
Well everyone, I have seen this in person and it's fabulous!!
Lynn worked her tail off and it shows. This stone was moved by her hands as was the dirt, she dug and hauled till this was done.
The sound the stream makes gives you the feeling that you are in the forest somewhere.
By the way her van has a new name.... Truck!
She's outdone many a professional job that I've seen! :D Ü :D
Ann, I am sure it's a pleasure to sit beside, as is mine. There is nothing like a a pond with the soothing sounds of a waterfall or a stream. Well, since Pam poo-pooed Koi, are you gonna get some Goldfish, Lynn?
Wow.......I'd love a glass of lemonade if you please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elaine
there are 5 in there. the two i had in the house which have now been named river and stream by the great niece and three more from ann and nicole called larry curly and mo. Haven't seen more than one of them for over a week.
i purposely rocked the pond with spots for them to hide. guess i did too good a job
Lynn it looks so good. I didn't expect to see that shale type of stone, but it does a lovely job around and in your pond. You have achieved a beautiful natural effect. Hat's off too you.
Brenda
They are experts at hiding.......even if you didn't have rocks Lynn. Eventually they will be more obvious (start schooling together) but it can take a while.
Lilypon is right, I have several in my pond too, and although I don't have rocks to hide in, I have Parrot's Feather and water Hyacinth and the root systems on those puppies give them lots of cover. I also have lots of variegated Cattail grass so, there is oodles of places to get lost. I feed my fishies in the morning and the sun is in just the right position so I can watch them on the bottom and eventually come to the top to eat. I can spend an hour just watching them playing.
Boy am I ever impressed. I don't know how you do all you do. Incredible creativity, not to mention energy.
Very impressive! I agree with Pam, it looks better than many pro jobs.
Time for a pond-warming party. :-)
Hey Lynn- I think a pond warming party is a great idea. I'll bring some friends for Larry Curley ,Mo, Stream and River!!
Ann
Wow! You've done a fabulous job!! It looks better than some professional jobs I've seen. Pam, I'm next in line for help.
:) Donna
What a beautiful pond and stream...and I LOVE the bird! The live birds like that down here eat all the fish. My neighbor just lost most of his to a great blue heron.
I just have to ask....does it freeze in the winter? Do you have to take your fish inside? Is ice skating allowed? LOL
Pati
LOL, I will leave the last questions to Lynn, but Iv can tell you that here in the far West Province of BC, we too, have Herons that play havoc in our ponds. We also have snakes that love to slither there way into our ponds, and the general consensus is that that is what has eaten at least 4-5 of mine so far. Raccoons and skunks are also a problem here in the Southern Interior, and probably the West Coast too.
Wow, your stream and pond are gorgeous Lynn. You've done a beautiful job. What a lot of work but how wonderful to get to sit and relax next to something like that. I love to watch fish and would love to have a pond like that.
Lyn you are amazing. That pond and stream is really a lovely piece of work. I can imagine how much hard work you have done, how many nights you went to bed and woke up again... sore to the bone. I have no doubt that you will be able to spend and enjoy many hours by your lovely stream and pond.
Linda
