I am very excited about joining this site :)
I am new to gardening and hope to learn a lot from the Dave's Garden community. This is my first house, and since it was built for us in a new subdivision, you can imagine the soil is pretty rough, and the only landscaping was the sod that was laid down.
Last year my b/f built me a raised gargen along the entrance, and I have managed to keep it going! A few days ago he finished a larged raised garden box in the front, so we went out today and bought quite a few plants.
I hope to post my garden creations soon, and would like any advice that the community could offer.
Thanks!
New to gardening in Ontario, Canada!
Welcome from New Mexico! When you have time tell us what you are planting and post pictures if you can.. would love to see them.

hello from upstate new york
Welcome to DavesGarden!
This is the garden box my b/f built for me. Today we filled it half up with soil and some compost. I'm hoping to have it completed by next weekend (having my plants in). We bought a few shrubs and tall plants to help cover up the foundation line. Anyone else with pics of a garden box? I would love some ideas....
Nice B/F :-)
Our gardening conditions are very different from one another. I also got a new planter box this year and have had some successes and some failures with it. Next year I hope to amend the soil. I think that was my biggest problem. Have you seen the Curb Appeal forum? More eyes might see your question over there and there are some very good pictures of projects there too. Can't wait to see a picture after the planting too.
Thanks! I'll check it out...
Sugarshokt, welcome to Dave's Garden, from another Ontarian. I live just east of Toronto. Good luck with your planter boxes and gardening in general - its very rewarding eventually. Please come and visit the Canadian Gardening Forum, where you'll meet other Canadians from all over Canada. Here's a link to a welcoming thread in the CG Forum - http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/526973/
Hi welcome.. have fun here.. great flower box to..
Hi from Ottawa - not all that far away.
I hope you've found the Canadian Gardening forum as well.
Good luck with gardening that new subdivision lot. I bet you find all sorts of stuff as you start preparing your gardens and not much which will grow plants well. It will be lots of work but will pay off in the end.
