Is this color pattern unusual?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

A canna. It has a flower similar to Cleopatra though the orange part of the flowers in Cleopatra are more reddish in this one.

This one has half and half leaves all the way down. Does Cleopatra do that or are hers just splashed with dark colors?

Apparently Cleo's can do pretty much anything she wants..lol
I've seen pics of the leaves that look just like yours, the flowers can do the same thing half red/half yellow....sometimes the flowers even come spotted...
She a has a lot of personality.:)

You do though need to keep the names 'Cleo' and 'Cleopatra' seperate.
Cleo is the all Maroon version of 'Cleopatra'

Canna 'Cleopatra' is reportedly a chimera - a plant with a mix of cells from two different plants. The mix of cells can be different in each part of the plant so you will see different color patterns. It is also possible for the plant to develop sprouts that are all green or all red. If you want to maintain the variegated form it's best to remove the solid color shoots (especially the solid green ones) since they can overtake the variegated part of the plant.
