Today I was reading our local news and they was talking about plants such as Angel's Trumpet. I have the plants and glad they allows us who loves Angel's Trumpet in our yards! I am going to keep them in our backyard so the teengers or whoever won't notice and steal our plants! Good thing, we lives far away from the street.

Beginning August 15th, it will be a crime in Louisiana for anyone to possess or sell substances made from hallucinogenic -- and sometimes highly toxic -- plants, such as angel's trumpet. Governor Kathleen Blanco signed the bill by Representative Michael Strain of Covington this week.
The measure outlaws the use of 39 herbs and plants with hallucinogenic qualities in food or drinks, but it allows safe amounts of them to be used in natural medicines. The bill allows the plants and flowers to be grown for landscaping or decorative purposes as long as they are not used in food or drink.
nyone convicted of manufacturing or producing a compound of the potentially lethal plants for improper human consumption can be sentenced to as much as ten years in jail and fined up to 20-thousand dollars. People convicted of possessing such a substance can get up to five years in jail or a maximum five thousand dollar fine.

That might be ok, since it says we can grow them, but anybody stupid enough to eat them, sell bits as a drug, or talk someone else into eating them is in really big trouble. While it's not my state, whatever is adopted by one, is likely to be an example for others.
My cuttings are precious babies; anyone who wants to eat them needs to let me know, and then they'll have to go elsewhere for them!!!

To those of you who toss them on the compost pile, please make sure your compost area is secure and has surveillance cameras.

If they listed all the plants that can be used as a drug it would be very long and include plants you would never guess were in that class.. If some one wanted to there are wild flowers that are are real trip,,I won't list them it starts a witch hunt. People that want to get high use ..so many stupid things the plant should be at the bottom of the list..spray paint .. glue...It is known as huffing and the list is long ..they will always find a way....There is no way to take everything out of the way of the NUTS that use.

I simply can't imagine people stupid enough to eat them! lol! When I just pull off battered leaves I'm running to the sink to wash my hands before I touch my eyes or my mouth!
