That one of by Brugs had a bud on it. I was measuring it just like LindaSC was with my tape measure.
When I woke up I went outside to check all my Brugs, and guess what, It was just a dream. I don't have a bud or flower just leaves.
Linda
I had a dream last night.
LOL. You have the brug fever bad!! I also have dreams of brugs, also other plants too. Lately it is my fancy hibiscus that has grabbed my night stage.
Fever by Bruce Springsteen
When I get home from my job
I turn on my T.V.
But I can't keep my mind on the show
When I lay down at night
I don't get no sleep
So I turn on the radio
But, Lord, the only thing I see
Is you blooming in my yard
The smells that you used to emit
Well, now the days grow longer
My love grows stronger
And the fever gets worse every day
But in my dreams Linda, I need glasses.
Linda, I'm sorry it was just a dream. One day soon I hope you get blooms. There's nothing like them.
Kell, I don't recognize that song. (where have I been?)
And I bet you didn't even know Bruce had such a thing for brugs, did you Linda? LOL
Yes I have brug fever very bad. This year has been a real learning experience for me. My first year with them. I have tried everything anybody has mentioned to try for anything whether I had it or not. Sure sound like a green horn don't I? Will I am. Now I have three brugs in pots on my patio that I burned because I used the wrong fertilizer on them. I used the miracle grow waterer that you attach to the hose. But of course instead of grabbing the 20-20-20 I got the 30-30-30 (talking about needing glasses, and I wear them). I am thinking that those three may have been the first to get watered and it was extra strong being the first. So I went out and pinched off all the crispy leaves and watered with plain water, to rinse out the soil. I didn't want my plant working to hard on the leaves I know I will be loosing. It needs to think about new ones, bigger and better ones.
I read where someone wrote that we may be babying these plants to much, and causing more problems then we would have if we just left them alone. And in my case that is truly right. Because like I said I have tried everything.
Like a said it has been a real learning experience. I guess we have to make mistakes before we can get everything just right.
Kell your hibiscus is beautiful. I am having issues with my Hibiscus as well, but that's another issue.
Linda
Brugmansia dreams - I get them too! I haven't had one for awhile though.
2pugdogs - you are on the road to being one of the people that everyone will depend upon to answer questions, because you will have had experience with EVERYTHING (cause you are trying everything). Just think of all the newbies you are going to be able to help next year.

Linda, You sound like me. I have a fortune in fancy hibiscus now. I have bought every kind I have seen in all the nurseries. All big plants in 2 to 5 gallon cans. I have no clue what I am doing. LOL But I better learn fast.
After reading your thread this morning where you burned your brugs, what did I do? I went and burned one of my special seedlings that had buds for the first time on it. I fertilzed when it was way too hot today. We are having abnormal high temps for us. You would think I would have a clue how to garden by now by now. As soon as I did it, the thought crossed my little mind that I had just done a stupoid thing, LOL. But I thought ahhh, I will wait and see. And tonight it is in distress.
I have those same type of dreams. Wonderful dreams of blooms and a lush tropical garden. After waking up I realize it was just a nightmare or daymare in my case. LOL
I sure hope your bloomin day will be here soon Linda! It sure is nice knowing that we have this place to get helpful info and learn from mistakes.
You are so correct, this is the best place to learn. Every time I ask a question, no matter how stupid or dumb it may be, someone comes back with an quick answer. Then usually someone will answer and say "I have done the very same thing at one time or another", then you know it makes me feel better, knowing that I am not alone. Knowing that I am not the only one that has made a terrible mistake. Sometimes I get to wondering if it is worth while, but then someone posts a pictures of all there beautiful flowers and I know it is worth it. Like one day I thought non of mind was going to have a Y then all of a sudden I had one Y'ing. Now they all have y'ed except for 3, and they are new ones. So I am patiently waiting for my first bud, that is, if I don't kill them all first. TG they are fighters, and recoup fast from our mistakes. If only our Brug Plants could talk, I know they could tell us a thing or two. Now who out there is going to start on this?? Teaching the Brugs to talk. ROFLMAO
Linda
Isn't it bad Linda? I'm out till after dark, standing around staring and soon as I get up brush fangs, start coffee and run back out and stare some more. What I'm sweating the most now are the Maya's and cross of Brugie's I started from seed. It's about 6' 3" now and Y'd a week ago so I keep eyeballing it looking for buds. Both of the Maya's have Y'd and waiting for buds and hoping a big storm or something doesn't come in and wreck everything.
I'm having bad dreams too!
Instead of lions, tigers and bears - Oh My!
Rabbits ,chipmunks and cats - Oh WHY!
Guess it's a sure sign I'm becoming a wooded lot since chipmunks materialized last month. I've never seen them around this neighborhood and all of a sudden a family has moved in They're cute but I don't know what damage to expect since I've never had to deal with them. It won't be long before trees get big enough a squirrel takes up residence.
LOL Blaine.....I do the same as you! Run in & out wondering, watching and picking & praying. Many times while I've stared and gone back to stare again, I've wondered if there is another plant on the face of our planet that is WATCHED SO MUCH?
waiting on new clematis to finally stretch out and start climbing
eyeballing the tomatoes to death waiting for flowers.. then fruit.. and now ripening
keep doing drivebys on pots with new calla lilies wondering looking for the first sprout
always something... :)
I had another brug dream last night. I dreamed that the buds on my creamsickle (that are getting big) were starting to open up. Well, I woke up this morning and found out it really was just a dream. The opening bud looked very much like the first pic on this thread:

I probably saw that pic and then dreamed about it. Oh well - another week maybe!
