Here's a picture of my Milk and Wine Crinum that opened this week. This is the second season for this crinium.

Milk and Wine opened 6/28
Can you see how GREEN I am with envy?! LOL!!
Seriously those are gorgeous.
Berrygirl, have you ever seen one of the bulbs for these? They get as big as footballs! The blooms don't last very long and so I planted mine in the middle of a bed where other perennials take over after this one is done blooming. However, these do spread and will eventually take over a large area.
nathalyn,
Yes I have! It is almost unbelievable how big they get. The size of them causes them to be so expensive to buy and ship. That is why I don't have any crinums yet. But since I am into Southerm heirlooms, it is a plant that I hope to have one day.
Do yours have that incredible fragrance that I have heard about?
I haven't noticed any scent at all off of this one ( and I was expecting fragrance too).
There are usually a few crinum available at the GARU's. You may want to consider coming!

Nathalyn, the one I've been calling milk and wine has a narrow "wine red" colored stripe. Do you think it's something else?
I also have a white with pink stripe, but don't think the stripe is as big as yours. Any idea what it might be?
Thanks!
Yvonne
Yvonne, Even in the DG Plant files, some have different coloration stripes. I don't know if it varies or if some of us have misnamed crinums.

Berrygirl, I went down and stuck my nose into the flowers and they did have a nice scent, but I never did notice a scent from a distance.
