a space between the calyx & corolla

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

brugs101-charlotte style continues.

now....professors...correct me if I am wrong please...

This is whiskers...funny thing is I thought he was gonna be white and I kept wondering when will he change color...finally realized he is supposed to be light yellow...umm smells good !

Whiskers does NOT have a "space" between the calyx(green pod) and the corolla (bloom) because we see the calyx part holding the "bloom" closely rather far down the corolla ? right..

and it has 2 or more calyx teeth ?

Kyles pink...blooming in the mud. DOES have a space between the calyx and corolla and the calyx does not hung the bloom far down and you see the narrow part of the corolla(bloom) coming from the calyx ?

also his calyx seems to just open in one division so he has only 1 calyx teeth...or tooth...

Butterfly has 2 or more calyx teeth (I think..though you cant tell for sure in this picture) and NO space between the calyx and corolla as the calyx hugs the bloom tightly and farther down ?

gosh am I doing good !

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

lol Hope! I'm in the process of learning all this greek as well! :-)

Love that Butterfly! And yes, Whiskers is yellow - and I thought a brighter yellow, so it may get darker. I have two of them. One has Y'd but has not set buds yet.

It's greek to me too, but the flowers are lovely.

Gosh....everyone is as greek as me !!!! Where are the englishers !!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Whiskers and Butterfly both have "Aurea" in them.....hence, the 2-5 slits in the calyx.

I don't know the background of the multihybrid, Kyle's pink, but it appears to have versicolor in it. Versi's have just one slit in the calyx.
