I recently purchased a 6ft Brugsmania tree. I planted it in full sun in South florida, and in 2 days the blooms started browning and dropping off. I thought the Florida sun and heat may have been to much for it so I moved it to a location getting morning to mid afternoon sun, instead of full sun all day. Any recommendations would sure be appreciated!!
Please help Brugsmania newbie!!!
Were the blooms brand new? Maybe they had been open for awhile and it was their time. Though, the hot sun can do them in much faster than when it is cooler. Also, they may have been in shock if they were in a different environment at the nursery. My buds can drop if I make any changes in my brugs living conditions.
It is really a trial to see what they will tolerate and where they will bloom their best. 11 to 2 is when the sun is supposed to be hottest I think. So maybe if you get them into shade by noon or let them have just afternoon sun. Some brugs tolerate full sun better than others. Also once they put down a good system, they may be much happier wherever you put them.
They do like lots of water when it is hot. Good luck. We would love to see a picture of your pretty!
PS Kdiggler, I see you just joined Dave's garden today. I want to WELCOME you!! We have a lot of fun here and there are so many rooms to visit and enjoy!

Welcome to Dave's and brug forum Kdiggler - you would be hardpressed to find a more knowledgeable, friendly and generous group of folks than you will find here.
Is this your first Brug? If it is..get ready -- I am totally smitten now..

Thanks for the warm welcome. It is my first Brug, and the perfect addition to my garden with more to come I'm sure. I'll definately keep you posted and hopefully post a few pics of her soon.
Maybe it was transplant shock? Not sure about Brugs, but I've found with many plants that if you transplant them while they are budding or blooming they can go into shock and that happen.
Hi kdiggler and welcome to the brug forum.
It defintely could be transplant shock and also the heat which does take its toll on some varieites. I think you did the right thing by getting it out of the all day sun because I know your weather can be as hot as ours.
Welcome to Dave's kdigger! This group is knowledgable, and maybe more importantly they're a fun group. You'll learn and laugh. We always like to learn and at the end of a long day at work we all need to laugh.

Welcome to Dave's kdigger! You've been given some good advice and the move to just morning sun should help your plant.
Welcome KDigger :) Hope you get new buds soon!
Thanks for the welcome everyone. I look forward to learning as well as sharing my knowledge about some of the plants in my garden.
