OK.will the REAL Knightii please stand up!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Well if this don't beat all -- I went out to check on my first Knightii bloom I posted about last night and LOOK at this - It's PEACH! huh? I'm thinkin' this cutting got mis-labeled or something. Anybody recognize this? It IS a beautiful color (sort of like butterfly) but it smells different. It is the sweetest smell I have found yet -- like baby powder.

more pics coming..

and another of the whole flower - it has the LOONGEST stem (attaching to the plant) I have ever seen.

Looks like Versi Peach or any one of the other Versi Peach-like named hybrids. A nice flower, none the less, but I can imagine the disappointment expecting a Knightii flower!

Hi, Carter - hmm..I don't think it's versi peach cause I have one of those and it has a very velvety, hairy leaf - this one is smoother. I am growing out a unnamed cross cutting out for a friend who didn't get it to bloom last year - it is Unknown X Pink Peach - I have no idea of its heritage or hybridizer. But I don't THINK I mixed up those tags although it could have happened I suppose. I will have to wait till I get home from work tonight to a close comparison of the leaves on that to this one.

Wowza, Diane, sure is pretty! I wish I could smell that baby powder scent :)

Dianne, It's beautiful what a change in color and most likely a name. Sorry it's not what you were expecting but it sure is elegant looking and I love the versi's.
I get tags and labels mixed all the time and then just stand back and enjoy it. What the hey if you don't know the name....LOL They just look and smell so good right now.... :-D

The only trouble with that Kin is the right ones don't come when you call them.

Hope you have the Knightii somewhere there too Diane! Then you will be one ahead.

Knightii has kinda velvety leaves if I remember correctly.

Hi, all - ok it's day 3 for my Knightii-not brug. She is mature now - and really a nice form and color I think. On my monitor the color looks very acurate - it's a rich deep peachy pink color. I was outside doing my morning garden stroll this morning and I saw the paint brushes I had bought the day before sitting on the patio table (I bought them to try my hand at pollinating a few brugs this summer). I decided to practice taking pollen so I took some out of a new bloom on Citronella and just for the heck of it -- I brought it over and applied it inside this one. Now..I have no idea if it will take, don't particularly care because Citronella isn't something I would have ideally chosen to cross with this, I would have preferred to take pollen from this one and maybe cross it with Golden Lady - but she is in between flushes right now with no flowers.

Anyway..I still don't know what this is unless it is one of the cuttings I was sent of the cross Unknown X Pink/Peach. I never heard of Pink/Peach but it is an apt description of this one's color. She is pretty though no?

here's her pretty face...I love the color.

Oh, and I saw the second bud has started so we will see what the next one looks like. What do you think I should call her for now "knightii-not" ?
