Possible, but he's probably just seeing different ones that haven't gotten their color yet, and thinks they are the same one he already saw. One of the most striking pics I've seen is Painted Lady, with a wonderful white bloom next to to a nearly red. The white is only the first stage (or second, since it probably emerges yellow) and then it gets it's color.

My mother called for me to come over to see that Bonnie Jean had put out a yellow flower. (She knows I 'hunt' for the unusual ) and I told her I'd come the following day, If it stayed that way. Sure enough, it was on it's way to the dark ruffled pink it should be by late that next morning. But I'm glad she's watching.

either way it was a pretty brug.

it only had three flowers on it though. one hadnt emereged yet out to see what the beginning looked like.

any ideas what that one was??

it was a bush like plant not more then 4ft tall unless he kept it trimmed back

imazdi, With so many look alikes, it is impossible to ID one with absolute certainty. But your picture looks a lot like Frosty Pink. Here's a picture of mine from a few weeks ago and as you can see, it had a mixture of pink and white blooms. And the white ones do darken to pink.

oh my if its frosty maybe i better go beg a cutting as i have been on the hunt for a frosty.

oh wow what a beautiful plant you have.

mine are not blooming yet due to age or height one. i have 7 now but was told by Kell that frosty is a great bloomer so on the hunt for it.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

imazdi, Here is the same plant from last year. It was never repotted and I had just thrown it up against the house - - planning on discarding it. Well, it bloomed it's heart out and I just couldn't get rid of it.

its a beauty. i wouldnt get rid of it either if it bloomed like that all the time. i bett the smell is awesome.

WOW!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That one is sure pretty Imzadi!! My Frosty type is ugly, very suavey. It has no zsa zsa zsu. I have seen so many pretty ones on here with the wavey skirts. Go see if you can get a piece from him. If you get a top piece, I bet you would have flowers before winter. They just love to bloom as you can see from Nathalyn's.

i am gonna go tommorow. it was such a beauty and i hope its a frosty.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I think it is prettier than a Frosty!! I like the neck.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

You're right, Kell. The one in the first picture does have a nicer "neck".

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Well, I love Frosty (other people's because I don't have a blooming one). I do have a very small cutting and hope it is the REAL Frosty. I have one that is several years old and it just finished, but it doesn't have the wave on the leaf edge and the bloom is not as wavy. I call it Frosty NOT. It's pretty, but I want the REAL Frosty.

Marie, I would go back and see if I could beg a cutting. Heck, beg two and we can make a trade. Jackson can't be too far from Columbia.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

hehe Linda actaully you are only about 1 hour and half from me.

i will try to beg a cutting but may have to wait till the fall. i would hate to dampen the flower by taking a cutting.

i love the dark peach color of it. should of mesaured the flower. okay will do that tommorow if one is blooming.

if i get a piece will grow it then share as it gets older.

will see tommorow.

maybe he has cuttings for sale. keeping fingers crossed

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Sounds like a good plan!! Whatever you do, don't pinch a piece. LOL.

Linda, I got the best laugh. I have never ever heard someone say

Quoting:
hope it is the REAL Frosty
Usually it is the opposite, they get a Frosty when they thought they were getting something else.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

hmm dont pinch a piece never!!!!

never pinched a flower in my life (LOL) shh dont ask our local zoo that. i know the people who do the gardens up there. shhh

hmm only needs to be about a 1/2 ft long to root.

okay will beg and plead.

what are the telling characteristics of a "real" frosty.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Marie!

Why don't you do a search on here. Put in Frosty. I know I have seen some great shots of her here. I also know there are tons of look a likes out there. I have no clue how to tell the difference.

Lilburn, GA(Zone 7b)

Hey Marie......don't forget your buddy down here in atlanta when you get your hands on that cutting and are ready to share, lol
