First Bloom from Knightii - a single??

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Hi, All -

My Knightii double white opened her first bloom today and I ran out in the rain to snap a pic - but it's a single? I thought maybe that is because it is her very first? No signs of a second bud on her yet..hmmm I'll be patient because she is really pretty anyway.

I also have buds on Insignis Pink, and a cross seedling I'm growing.

rain... what's that? First time since I've been here (10yr 9m) that we've got watering restrictions.

All important question (for me) what's she smell like?

Doesn't matter that the bloom was blurry, the bricks were so beautiful that they stole the show!!! The first photo and the wonderful door and glimpse of the woods was so enchanting that it was difficult to focus on your lovely, healthy brug - what a treat, thank you for including us!!

Knightii blooms with all three.Single, double and triple with most being double.I notice that my crosses with Knightii, as pod parent, retain this trait

LOL Blaine - I didn't even try to smell her yet...I was afraid to suck water up my nose! LOL

Sherry - awww.thanks. The rain actually makes the cobblestones look better, huh? I love cobblestone walks - the picture looks like it could have been taken in England many years ago. All you need is the sound of horses hooves clip clopping along. LOL

JT - thanks for the info..I will watch to see what other blooms she gives me. I sure hope she throws another bud soon. What's Knightii's habit generally - does it bloom in flushes or steady?

I get flushes but mine are older plants.

Yes, Diane, I could almost hear the horses clopping, my great grand father was a merchant - masonry and brick making was one of his many hobbies, he was also a gardner, writer and artist. I love going back to the old home place to see the intricate well, walkways, brick arches over entries, exits inside the house and the garden, and barn and chicken house, etc; unfortunately, much of it was destroyed by a fire. One time I had a vision of a past life, and remember myself as a red haired girl of about 13, about to board a train, and the street to the train station was made of cobblestones exactly like those laid at your home, except, they were laid in a herringbone pattern - the dream, or whatever, was so real that after 25 years I remember it vividly...
