Odds and Ends

North Saanich, Canada

Just finished doing some work outside and took a few pictures, so thought I would share.
This first one is the beginning of buds on my "UNKNOWN" brug(or, as Heatherbelle calls it-Glenda's frosty pink!!!"

The second waterlily. This is a very small one compared to the others.

The beginning of the green grapes. These were in the yard when we bought the place. A very tart grape, and make a lovely pie!!!!

The hens and chicks are going nuts.

These hydrangeas are in pots out of the deer's way!!! And are doing very well.

This is the hydrangea that the deer have really been at, but it is going to have quite a few flowers in spite of the deer!!!!

This is the new gunnera we bought. It has been in the pot for several days, and tonight got transplanted to the new resting place.

Hubby had to cut it out of it's pot. Otherwise, it was not going to come out!!!

Another thing that was in the yard when we arrived. Not a big fan, but St Johns Wort always puts on a good show.

This rose is also going a bit nuts!!!!!!

This poor rose gets neglected so badly and just keeps coming back. Hubby is in the process of automatic watering, so it should be much happier soon.

That's it folks!!!! Let's see more pictures.

Oh Glenda they are beautiful!!! Ü

It's cloudy and rainy on the prairies.....poor plants have been weighted down by the rain (but I'm happy for it here). We will need a few days of sun and warmth to perk them up again.

Thanks Pam. Hope you get some warm weather soon. I guess the rian is good though, as long as the major storms stay away!!!!

p.s. that new gunnera looks very, very healthy! You're going to get some lovely castings from it. :)

Sure hope so!!!!!! I am looking forward to doing gunnera, and elephant ears. Some of my elephant ears are a good size already.

Love the photos of your lovely plants and flowers, Glenda. Is that first hydrangea, an "Endless Summer"? I have a first year Annabelle that I am looking forward to seeing blooms on. When it does, I'll post too. The color of the second darker blue hydrangea is stunning. Your Gunnera looks terrific too. You'll have to post photos of it at the end of summer when it's probably going to be three times that size? I am still going to find one for myself in the next couple weeks. Have you ever tried that Alfalfa Tea on your Roses? I have been feeding mine the stuff this year, and they seem to like it a lot. Especially my Floribunda like yours. Aren't they gorgeous when they have a cluster of flowers like that. Love Roses!! Congrats on the Brug bud. I can't wait until I finally get one too. We need to "turn up the heat" around here. Has been an exceptionally cool wet June for us here in the Interior. Supposed to be 31C tomorrow, but we need about a month of it. Fingers crossed!

Donna, I have no idea what the hydrangea are!!!!! They were part of the yard when we bought it 5 years ago. Being a prairie transplant, I still have a lot to learn about BC plants!!!
I've never used alfafa tea on my plants. We mostly just use Raingrow organic fertilizer and we are very pleased with the results. We buy it in bulk now!!!!!!
It's been cool and wet here too, except for a few days of heat in late May. We would like to have it a bit warmer too!!!

Lovely pics - I thought the hydrangeas would have been finished by now. Beautiful color on that last one.

Nope, Hydrangeas have yet to start blooming yet, unless they were store or nursery bought. Last year it was mid to late July before we saw any in the Southern Interior.
