Coneflower 'Sunset'
Echinacea

My second bloom, which also has a few rolled-up petals. It's also not quite as intense in color as the first (now faded in the background).

Yours is VERY nice! On the one hand you do have a few rolled petals, so that confirms the behavior I had observed on mine. On the other hand, you have more "normal" petals; frankly, I like that better. Yours is quite lovely and has very nice color!

I just got back from a brief trip, and I now have *5* blooms on that little plant. Some brighter, but every one of them with petals that "got stuck". I swear I just want to take a nail scissor and cut them all open. :D

I guess it's just a quirk of this plant.

Yes, but isn't it interesting that not a single rolled petal ever shows up in the official vendor photos of the plant! That is why I love PF. In PF we can see what the plants REALLY look like. And, afterall, it's still a lovely plant.

Do the undersides of the petals stay that purple color or do they turn orange?

Elkton, MD(Zone 7a)

They stay that color, esw.

I think it might be a nice effect, on a really mature and bushy plant in full bloom; but mine is young and puny, so I'm noticing every weird little petal.

I just bought one, a good size, potted and plan to put it in a bear spot I have in my garden. It looked pretty and I thought I'd like it.
