P. Caerulea fruit ripening time?

Olathe, KS(Zone 6a)

Hello friends.
I have a P. Caerulea loaded with fruit and I have no idea how long I should allow it to stay on the vine to be fully ripe. I only want the seeds from it as I've never noticed any "meat" worth digging for. In past years, I've found many fruit to be hollow or partially hollow and the ones that are full of seeds look like the seeds are way to small to be viable. I'd like to pull all the fruit and let the vine focus strictly on blooming again ASAP. I've noticed bloom numbers decrease when the fruit increases. This plant is potted for display purposes, I'll allow a few in the yard to take natures course. Any ideas on ripe times or what ripe fruit looks like compared to what its like now? I think I've let some sit most of the season and never did notice any difference in size or color.
Please chime in if you could help me out.
Thanks, JD

Hi JD,

I read somewhere you should let the fruit drop, and then store it in a cool place for a couple of weeks after that. They continue to ripen after they drop.

Thanks Mark. I was also told in another thread that they will turn bright red when ripe. I have some fruit that has been on the vine for over a month and its a green as the day it formed.
I know waiting for fruit to drp on my Passiflora Incarnata would lead to rotted fruit as I've seen it still on the vine even after all the leaves have dropped from frost.Who knows, there are so many variables that makes this kind of guessing awfully difficult. One thing we do know for sure is that time will tell. LOL
Thanks, JD
