Too much rain????

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Is too much rain a problem with Plumeria, even if it has good drainage? I have my first inflo and it seems to have a whitish film on it. I have been spraying with Safers fungicide but with about 2" of rain a day it doesn't stay on the plant for long. I am toying with the idea of putting the Plummie under the eave where it would get light but less rain; however the humidity will still be really high.

Ardesia, can you post a picture of the "whitish film." If it is mold, it's harmless. Plumerias love water, but they don't like to sit in a pool of water. As long as you have good drainage, the rain water is good for them. I think the fungicide just needs to be absorbed once. You shouldn't have to keep spraying it. Maybe the fungicide is causing the film?

Oh thank you Clare, if the rain is OK I can relax a bit. I sprayed it with the Safers more than once because it was raining while I was spraying the first time - it is always raining these days.
Haven't been able to get a good photo but will keep trying. It is good to know mold can be harmless.
I have been gardening for 40+ years but this is my first Plumeria and you would think it is one of the grandbabies the way I fuss over it.

I fuss over mine too:-) If you want to put your plumie under the eave, that's fine too. The water won't hurt it a bit now that the weather is warm during the day, but you will enjoy the flowers more when they are open if they are not soaking wet!

ardesia, i believe the whitish film is just the latex ozzing on the inflo...nothing to worry about all. ive seen this many times during the spring here in Pa... its fine.

Oh, of course. It's just the latex (sap) oozing out. Good call, Miss! I get that on some tips sometimes in the spring too when it is just starting to warm up. It's harmless.

Clare, Thanks :)

Thank you, can you hear my big sigh of relief here? The film seems to be dissappearing and the plant does look healthy (except where some critter just had to taste a few leaves).
So glad to hear it likes rain as we had another 2" last night. The plants on my deck love this weather but the poor garden is drowning. I will be out of town for 10 days and I am afraid it wlil be all weeds when I return. Thank goodness my Francoise is in a container.
