We will be going out of town this weekend. We have at least one chrysalis that is roughly ready to open. Can I take the cage with me on a 90 minute car ride? Should I take it to a local friend's house? I thought of getting someone to just check on it but was concerned that the butterfly might hatch and not be able to get out and get hurt.

how stable is the chrysalis anchor?
If it's a Monarch it's dangling, unlike some of the others that are a little more still. I would leave it at a friend's house and they can enjoy it and release it. That way it will be in the same area as your home and you won't be taking any chances.
