Tree Tomato, Tamarillo (Cyphomandra betacea)
i never knew that there was such a thing as a tree tomato.....amazing....You learn something new every hour on this site............
Really nice lighty stewed, with icecream.
These fruits are featured in "The Witches of Eastwick". The "Devil" (Jack Nicholson) cuts into one during a scene. Had everybody wondering what they were as they were quite dark in color.
I grew one some years ago but lost it, either during winter "storage" or something. Don't remember, but I never saw fruits. Now, I know why.
raydio.
I will have to watch,"The Witches of Eastwick" and see if I can pick up on the Tamarillos. These plants can't take a frost
