There are so many beautiful varieties of hibiscus now that it is hard to resist.

Pretty one, is it a triple?

Did you get in on the tropical hibiscus co-op? I bought 7, if I remember they were $1.97 each. All 7 are alive with buds on them.

triples? I didn't know there was such thing. Will have to add to my want list.

It must be nice to live in zone 9 when you don't have to pull them in the greenhouse....LOL

Pretty color, Sylvia.

No, I purchased it from Hidden Valley Hibiscus early in the spring. It is called Fragile Moment and is supposed to be 8", but since this is the first bloom, it is quite a bit smaller. Also the color is more intense than the picture on their website.

What is the best fertilizer for hibiscus to keep them blooming? I never seem to have much luck keeping mine blooming.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

minigrannie, I buy a fert. that is called for "blooming tropicals" (such as hibiscus, plumeria, etc.) any brand, at any good nursery. Paid about $5-6. Have never seen it at HD or Lowes. I used it for the first time this year on my Orange Punch (dbl orange) hibiscus and it is going berserck with blooms! The fert. is in granule form. Hope that helps. If you're coming to the Houston Nursery date, one of my favorite nurseries down the street from me has it and I would gladly buy and get for you. But I really do think you can find it in San Antone rather easily.

Also you can get it from the Hibiscus Soc. but they want $10 a lb, kinda pricey if you ask me. Must be a fundraiser.

Again, is there such a thing as a triple bloomer hibiscus?

Awesome blooms and photos.

I ask a person from our local Hibiscus Club sale and they said the best thing to use is Tomatoe fertilizers.
The cheaper the better..like "green light" I saw some at Lowe's or WalMart for $3.00-$4.00.

Hope that's helpful.

Beautiful Sylvia. Just beautiful.

Ely, I live in zone 9 and my fancies die over winter outside. Lots of huge hibiscus bushes around here though. I wonder if I planted them in the ground instead of having them in pots if that would work better. I think the fancy hibiscus are more tender though.

The usual doubles do great here outside. Huge bushes of them all over.
This one is not as pretty as Sylvia's. It is very common here though outside.

I've never seen a hibiscus with that many blooms on it at once. It looks beautiful to me.

Thanks Critter for the info. I remember Mavie saying she used tomato food on her brugs as well.
