Any advise on Peacock Lilies? Mine are newly planted this year. Plenty of green...but no blooms or any signs of blooms. I've never grown these before but have heard they are wonderful. Are they late bloomers? Are they picky about conditions? Are they a little finicky and only bloom on the 5th Monday of July when it is a full moon and raining?

if you were to go by my experience, you'd think they're picky. But they're not supposed to be. I planted almost 100 bulbs last year and they grew great but only 1-2 blooms. Which were gloriously scented, BTW. Supposed to bloom anytime from jun-aug. I go by the spot every day and no bloom action yet, but I continue to keep fingers crossed. I will be happy to cross them on your behalf, as well, LOL.
Hmmm. They sure better get on with it if they are going to make the June bloom! Mine are a little on the dry side. I wonder if they would like a little more water? At least you got two blooms last year! Maybe they are one of those bulbs that bloom better the longer they are in the ground. Maybe you will get a nice show this year. Please let me know how it goes.

Acidenthera will set a flower long after the foliage is up just like Gladiolus. Keep the soil moist, do not let it dry out. They should flower about 80 - 90 days after planting
Excellent! I knew there had to be a peacock lily pro out there somewhere! I think I'll go water mine. That might be part of the problem. I planted them in early May. So with adequate water sounds like they might think of blooming sometime in July. Thanks so much for the advice.

Let us know how they did
I will. Hopefully I'll be posting photos!
If you are referring to Acidanthera bicolor, they do bloom pretty late. I am in zone 9 and they bloom in August. As Vossner pointed out, they grow well vegetatively, but flowers are hit and miss. Some years I get blooms, some years, very little. I have some in wetter areas, some in drier areas, trying to find a happy spot for them. None has been totally successful. One word of caution is that they mulitply freely. It is almost impossible to remove all the little bulblets - the plants keep coming back as fast as I can pull them out.
Hmmm. That is a bad quality! Lots of bulbs and foliage, few blooms! I'll see how they do this year. They look pretty happy so far. I'm hoping for the best.
Well, I will take some if anyone is overrun with them!
