So glad I found this thread! And can't believe I only got FIVE plants!

2 out of 3 have bloomed ! Went to Home Depot the other day and their hibiscus were pale compared to ours!!

Nicole

Now if I can just get a greenhouse I can get all the other colors!

Beautiful Ladies

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

The bloom is huge on GP, almost bigger than the plant. I am enjoying them and they are blooming their little soul's off. A couple of mine have died though. They were doing great then the leaves got floppy and they croaked. I am thinking poor drainage.

Lakeland, FL

He--, MIne grew fins in all this rain. I have 3 that are getting huge and 2 trying to catch up. Mine quit blooming I guess to wet now. We shall see. Marilynne

Mine were a bit late to bloom; lots of buds that kept dropping off - too darned hot, I guess. But they kept growing!

Well out of 5 I have one that made it, I think I put them in the ground to soon. They should have had a better root section than they didi. Corky

And Pink Chiffon. All 15 are doing well in 1 gallon cans. They go in the ground next year, after I have sheltered them for their first winter.

Beautiful, you live in a great zone where you will be able to put them in the ground. Next year I am sure they will go crazy for you. They are really looking great now.

In CA, If you put them in the ground they will get like a shrub; more leaves; fewer blooms. They need their roots in a pot, snug, for the best bloom. If you want them in the ground, put the whole pot in the ground.

Are these things easy to root from cuttings? Anyone know?

I bought 5 from the co-op. We could all trade cuttings and trade colors!!!

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Nicole, I believe they are pretty easy to root, probably better from hardwood cuttings than greenwood.

I have 38 of these hibiscus and none are ready yet to share any limbs.

But that's a great idea to share when they get big enough.

Here is one method (near the bottom of page) http://www.rozpat.net/Basics%20and%20Beyond.htm for rooting.

I've found the greenwood roots faster for me, but they are prone to rot if they are kept too hot while rooting.

Here is an example of one that has been in the ground a while. Obviously it was put too close to the driveway.
None of mine are this old, but there are several around the area that are this large.

tazzy that is so beautiful, do you have it in the ground or in a pot? You are the same zone as me, and don't you hate it that it is so close to winter. I know all mine that I got from the coop are doing great and blooming like crazy. For a while I didn't think they were growing or going to bloom, but finally they are going strong.

Keep posting I love them.
