L'amour is such a great performing brug in my garden. Almost always in bloom and I have never seen an insect on it. It's only drawback is I cannot root it for the life of me. Any tips would be appreciated as I would like to share this with my water gardening buddy. She has been so generous with her waterlilies and it would be nice to share something special with her.

Loretta, I also love L'Amour. So far, my favorite brug of all. I'm just curious, have you tried the bubble-way of rooting them? Your LA is beautiful.
I love this one too. Cut a woody piece Loretta, much easier to root.

L'Amour rooted easily for me using good, heavy wood and damp potting soil. Most brugs should root fairly easily at this time of the year. I hope it works for you, however you decide to root her.

Beautiful blooms, Loretta. I lost my L'Amour over the winter. I kept hoping she'd put out from the roots but she didn't. It seems like some Brugs change colors in a slow motion picture. My neighbor was amazed with one of my blooms. After we'd walked around the yard and came back to it, it had turned pink and she couldn't believe it was white when we started and pink when we got back. LOL
Loretta, I put my Maya in a bubbler two days ago and she started rooting almost immediately, I could not believe it. I potted her up today and did a log too. Cross your fingers for me. I would LOVE a L'Amour cutting, if you ever have one to spare...
Thanks for all the nice comments. Guess I will dig out the bubbler. Also will look for some hardwood to take a cutting. I hate to cut it though, every branch has a bloom or a bud. lol
Ada-L'amour almost changes in front of your eyes. It smelled so good outside this evening. ummm!

My goodness, Loretta, your pond is wonderful and romantic, I LOVE it!!! Does your wood duck box work, lol. Over the years, all my Goldens have brought me wood duck babies, all alive and peeping. When my grandson was 3, he was on the deck with Fish, our Golden, and we heard a muted peep but could not find it. My grandson opened Fish's mouth and out jumped a baby wood duck!! We gather them up and drive them to the bayou and pray that they all live. Your place is really beautiful and I LOVE your fish too - such a fun, relaxing retreat, and so creative!!!

I am with you Loretta! L'Amour is definately my favorite Brug. It is my first to bloom each spring and it blooms constatnly through the summer. If I could only keep one Brug, she would be my pick!

Thank you all so much! I hate to think that all this work is so I can hear people say how pretty it is but.....lol The blooms last a long time on L'amour also. Here is the third day. And it barely wilts in the heat which is rare in this climate. The color in this picture is a little bit rosier than the actual color but not much.
She is gorgeous and so are all of your pond pictures. Do you have to treat it so you don't have mosquitoes or is that just a problem with "still/standing" water? I'll bet it is really romantic being out there in the evening with that fire burning.

Brugie-It would be a lovely place to set up a table and have a candlelight dinner. It's even big enough to do a little slow dancing. Now if I only had some magic, pixie dust to sprinkle on Mark to make him a romantic kind of guy. Heck if he could just stay up later than 9:00.......lol As for mosquitos, I have hundreds of little rosy minnows that have given birth to 1000's of baby rosy minnows that eat the skeeter larvae should there be any in there. But I use the Bayer mosquito control granules, too. Just to be sure.
Where to you get the Bayer mosquito granules?? I use the mosquito 'chunks', they are sorta brown but I'm out and don't remember the name. I'll check walmart today for the Bayer, thanks for mentioning it!!

You have it all, Loretta. Brugs, and a pond and lotus. My new love. I am definitely entering into a new stage, my leaf stage of gardening. LOL.
LOL, leaves are definately cool and the lotus leaves are kind of blue green.
Those skeeter dunks do not work as well as the granules IMO. I get the granules at Lowe's. and they last a good long time.
I wish I could get them, Loretta. Here they only have the dunks. Still the best thing for fungus gnats I have found.

L'amour is doing great for me here, but I left it in a pot too long and it got leggy; so just yesterday I cut it back and stuck about 9 cuttings in pure sand, which I've had great luck with lately. Hopefully that luck will hang with me awhile!

Loretta, everyone has their own way for rooting. I use vermiculite. It is germ free and there is less chance of rot. Green cuttings from the tips of the flowering region will rot. You can leave the green part on but you will need some hardened stem below it for it to root. L'amour will not root in the winter for me. Good luck!
Your pond and surrounding area are beautiful. The two of you have done so much hard work and it shows. I know hope you get many hours of immense relaxation from it. .
Thanks to you all! Wait until I tell Mark (DH) that he is an artist. He will love it. lol I cannot wait until all the brugs around the pond start blooming. There are over 20 plants situated on the edge or within 6' from the edge.
Barbara & Kristi-Are ya'll keeping the rooting medium on the dry side? I appreciate the tips. Rooting anything has been disappointing for me lately and in winter is something I gave up on.

The sand drains so fast that while it stays damp for several days, it never really gets soggy, like soil or vermiculite does. As mentioned, it's new to me, but it's working great so far.
Oh my sweet girl, Lexy! I am sooooo happy to be chatting with you again. The pond is pretty dog-gone cool, huh? lol You should see all the baby toads, leopard frogs, bullfrogs, dragon flies, and all the other creatures. It is a real little eco-system ot there. Sometimes there are so many tiny toads and frogs around the pond you can barely walk for fear of crushing them. How is your garden and pond doing? Stiil eating seafood platters on Friday evening? lol
Kristi-I am going to do an experiment with sand and vermiculite to see which works best for me. Some of your seedlings you have posted lately are beautiful. You seem to have the gift. By the way, what I said to Lexy is ditto for you.
Aurea NH is blooming. It is a nice medium pink, no problem with insects, L'amour holds up better in the heat and the flowers hold longer also. Out of a score 1 to 10, it gets a 7.

My l'Amour is my fave, definately. The blooms are so long lasting, she blooms almost constantly, she takes torrential rains without the blooms getting beat up, I could go on and on and on...
