L' amour x EP

This seedling is havng it's first flush. Pretty and fragrant not really different except the blooms are very small and dainty. Is that usually the case the first blooms?

Loretta, I think I have that seedling, I'll look tomorrow, but mine has not Yed yet, it was only planted in Feb/22/05, but it's really getting tall. I think your bloom is pretty and girlie. I've had some first blooms that were bigger and the next season, they become more refined, one, in particular is an unknown that I HATED last season and I cannot believe what a difference a year has made, it is really pretty, so I'm going to try not to be hasty about tossing them. I'm still new, but I've not had any that were really small, I I would LOVE some minis!!!!

Loretta. I wouldn't be surprised if this one got darker with age because of its parents. I have some that have really changed. One real mini all last summer is regular size this year, sadly. You really need to keep a brug for 2 full years and also to maintain it at its top condition to really evaluate it fairly.

Thanks ya'll! I am going to keep it at least for a couple of seasons. It is my first attempt at hybridizing that actually did anything. A mini would be nice but I would be surprised if it stayed small as it matures.

As for color my EP does not turn a pretty pink in my climate. Instead it stays peachy so I am learning that brugs can be quite changable in color even in the same region.

I don't remember my EP, either one of them, being pink last year, it was peachy too...I hope it turns pink this year, but it surely is taking it's time making a Y...

I hope they stay small for you Loretta-very cute.

It looked pretty today. Guess I will assign it a number and write it in my gardening journal as one to save until next year.

Loretta, did you plant yours this year and, if so, when?? And, how tall was it when it Yed?? I'm trying to figure out if mine will bloom this season...

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Last year, I guess it Y'd at 3'. It is the third one from that pod that bloomed and there are about 7 more that still have not Y'd

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

So this is your second year for the one in the photo - I planted the seeds on 2/22/05 and I have one that is three and a half feet but no Y, the top was knocked outta it, but it's coming back. I have a PB x EP, seeds planted same time, that is 4 1/2 feet and no Y. Of course, I'd love to see them bloom. Yours is VERY pretty!!!! Did you make the cross yourself?? I really hope to get my own pod of *anything, I've never seen a pod or fresh seeds, one of my goals, lol...

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Mine were planted in September or October 2004 and babied through the winter. I tried hybridizing a lot of crosses but this was the only one that ever set a pod. Then I had the hardest time getting them to germinate. It seemed like most of them were not mature, guess I got in a hurry. Then I had the hardest time getting them to germinate. There were lots of natural crosses that set pods in my garden last year. Today I crossed the brug in this thread back to L'amour and vice versa. Since they were the only two blooming it seemed like the thing to do. lol
One thing I noticed is EP usually gets pretty tall before it Y's so I was surprised when two of my crosses Y'd so soon.

Nice color. I do like the smaller blooms. I hope she will be a keeper for you.

Loretta,

When I saw this I thought of muskmelons, such a nice color. I'm just 40 miles down the road I should stop in to see your Brugs sometime.
