Quebec is now host to the fast moving system....

How are you folks doing?

Hi Pam,

We must all have been sleeping! :-) Sorry I didn't see this when you posted it; I've been working a lot of evenings and weekends at conferences lately. Am now taking a breather and catching up on DG threads.

I'm not sure which system this was, but we've had a few intense t-storms, heat waves and rainy days in the last couple of weeks. Mercifully, today was just sunny and breezy, not too hot.

My dad in Stoon said that there was a whopper of a t-storm there about a week ago. Hope all was calm where you are.

Hi Shannon

It was the day I posted this that they said the system that had crossed the rest of the country had entered Quebec. We had 4 days of high heat/humidity here (hit 102.4F) and, like Saskatoon, we had a couple of impressive storms (tornadoes. baseball sized hail, etc. however stayed southeast of here so we were very lucky).

It was really something to watch one system keep up the strength to set off severe storm warnings/watches (and record breaking temperatures) as it crossed almost our whole country. From what I gathered from the weather channel the humidity really seemed to stick and hang around for you poor Easterners.

Pam

The humidity down here is generally horrendous. Whenever I go home to the prairies and then back here, I feel almost like I can't breathe, for the first couple of days. A/C at home is a necessity if you want to sleep at night.

It's interesting tracking the weather systems, isn't it? There's a lot of severe weather going on this year. When I was talking to my mom and step-dad SE of Brandon last week, we got around to talking about their tornado emergency plan for the first time ever. The only part we didn't resolve was whether the cats should be in their carriers in the basement, or walking around freely. :-) Hopefully no one in the region will have to get to that point.
