Rick, I know I have bugged you endlessly, with tons of questions. I know I've consumed so much of your time that I probably owe you $1000 in consultation fees. I am deeply in your debt! You have just been a saint with the patience of Mother Theresa. And I very much appreciate all your time and your wisdom.
My computer is up and running beautifully. As you know, I bought the 300 gig hard drive you found for me at Newegg and according to your instructions, I installed it without fiasco. Today I slaved the old hard drive to the new one and retrieved all of my info--my documents, my pictures--of my son, my pets, my plants, my garden party (which crashed the pc!). Everything is there. Well, no, now it's here, on the new hard drive. OMG, you have no idea how excited I am to have found them all again!! I was so afraid they were lost forever!
Thank you, Rick, for all the advice and all the hours you spent helping get the right parts for my pc and walking me thru each step by email. You're brilliant! I know you had better things to do with your time, yet you graciously and patiently assisted me, a complete stranger, for HOURS, until I got it all going. To some, it may seem like a little thing--installing RAM and a hard drive and connecting two hard drives. To me, it was monumental. And the alternative was losing all of my data and my precious photos. You saved all my info and helped me to fix my pc myself. What a boost for my confidence!
I'm feeling pretty sure of myself now and will attempt to build my brother a computer using 4 old computers he has. I'll put my old hard drive and my old ram into one of his pcs and switch out a few other things and get him a nice little set up going--not as nice as mine, but he doesn't wanna spend any money on it. He said he'll just use mine instead. No way, buddy, you gotta have your own! LOL
