I have had a look in the PF , and that rose is very pretty with it's very green thorns and smells good to.

These are a common and beautiful wildflower in my area...when I see them , I know that I'm home. They, and their close cousins...Rosa Virginiana and Rosa Carolina dot the fencerows and roadsides all across Kentucky. They put on a nostalgic show every June. Reminds me of a simpler time when things were not so hectic. As the brush piles, fencerows and overgrown spots dissapear, due to 'development'...so will these little treasures.

Thanks Carla, the other parts of a plant get overlooked because of the blooms....I had a hard time identifying this rose because I could find no good images of the thorns.
Rosa virginiana has very curved thorns, Rosa carolina has straight thorns and Rosa palustris has slightly curved thorns...otherwise, they are almost identical in appearance. There are small differences in growth habit, but as far as physical differences, the thorns are the best way to determine which one you have. I decided right then and there that a thorn image needed to be included in the PF.
