Need quick help setting up a merge field

I need to make name badges for my class reunion this Sat. I've run them through the printer once with correct graphics for 'classmate' or 'spouse'...now I need to do a merge field that will put names on the badges.

I've never done this before and am clueless...I puttered around and couldn't figure it out...so here I am...slinking in, cookie dough and fudge in hand to use as bribes.

I'm using Print Shop 20 by Broderbund...but figure a merge field is pretty much the same whatever you are using.....
How do I set up a field? how do I make it print names only?
In the address book program supplied, there is only space for a first initial for a middle name...I need a whole name there to place the maiden names of the gals in this spot.

Help me please!!!
