Gonna Be Soon!

Red Epi, one of only 3 buds. But, first time it's had more than one! This is my 5 year old 50¢ yard sale Epi.

Way to go, Darius.
My red ones are still flowering nicely too. They are still producing new buds, I am not complaining.

Sigh, NO new buds on mine. I think all the heavy rain washes the fert. right through the coir-lined hanging basket.

So glad you will be "budding" out soon......guess you'd call this one a late bloomer. :-) I love the history of our plants......the little stories of how we got them and the special circumstances surrounding how they came to live in our gardens.

Candy, I was thinking about that today. I went to my hairdresser and saw an epi outside. I mentioned it when I went in and she said she'd found it recently and had another in the back yard. (She married last year and moved to her husband's house.) She brought the other one out and said it had about 10 huge red flowers on it this year. So, guess who went home with cuttings? :-) The plant was in pretty bad shape though, snail ravaged, red leaves from too much sun, etc. Hope the cuttings root -- it will be exciting to see what it is after a few years.

Good Find, Kaperc!

Yes, I'll have to label it 'Allana' -- it will be a plant with a history. We've shared plants before, which is a good thing, since the walking iris I got from a lady in Savannah died and I got one of the pups back from her. It's good to share plants!

Man, this bud is vexing! STILL has not opened, and it's been showing color for a couple of weeks at least!

Here's another bud, same plant. There's a third bud only an inch long right now.

Darius, I bet that first bud will open today for you:-)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Nope. STILL waiting!!! It doesn't look even a tad more open that the last pic.

Fair Lawn, NJ(Zone 6b)

Darius,
mine are doing the same thing. How does that go - a watched pot never boils??

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

LOL! I think that's right!

Dang! I think it's stuck!!!

Photo about 5 minutes ago... doesn't look a bit different than 6/23 except more red. Meanwhile, the second bloom has almost doubled in size, and the 3rd tiny one continues to grow...

Well, here's the final (I think) bloom on my red epi.

I do see 2-3 nubbins on the growth up in the pot but they are not large enough to know if they are just new growth or what.
