Very unique and pretty Wilma.....she will love it. Ü

Very nice Wilma. Is the base ceramic?

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

thanks girls,,
echoes the base is a gazing ball base that I found at the thrift store..
No it is not ceramic.. heavy plastic base,,

Lovely idea; very creative. Did you make the ball yourself?

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

Yes I did make it..
I am always making some kind of craft,,

I'm impressed, very detailed work. What is it made out of?

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

I used a 10 pin bowling ball.

Wow, not exactly a lightweight! Good going, very artsy.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Wilma, have you seen some of the bowling balls they have decorated in the Garden Art Forum. You guys do nice stuff with them! Just curious...where did you get your bowling ball?

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

bought the ball at a yard sale..
yes I have seen the ones they do on the Garden Art Forum

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Hmmm, what are chances of me finding one like that. Probably kinda slim. Oh well, I'll keep an eye open, maybe even get up the nerve to go to a local Bowling Alley and ask if they have any "worn out" balls. I might look kinda dumb, huh? I'd sure like to try making one like that, though.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

Donna, hi........I'd be very careful who you ask that interesting question, when you start out for the bowling alley??? E

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

ROFLOL, I'll be careful, Elaine!

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

OFG for sure ask at the bowling alley, they just might have some to give away..

Dundas,, ON(Zone 5b)

That's really beautiful and totally unique.

I'd love to try to make one.

Where did you get the critters you put on it?

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

That's beautiful Wilma. It looks like it's made out of metal. I'd love to know how you did it.

Thanks Girls
I used a large bowling ball , glued on critters, with liquid nails, spray painted it black ( matte finish) sponged on copper and green metallic paint ( folk art paint)

paints can be bought at Walmart
critters were bought at the $ store,,
lizards, frogs, ladybugs,

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

I love how you've done your gazing ball - unique, and you should get good bids on it. What a novel idea your auction is, and a good one, especially if you have a good sized family.

Good stuff,

Joan

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

Thanks Joan,
I think it will be a good one that the family members will bid on,
and I know a few others will ask me, why didn't you make a few more,
Oh well there is always next year for them.
