hello from central florida

hi everybody! my name is debi, my friends name is john. we have a dog, bosco, and a cat, tomboyjones. we have lived in the florida keys for the past 10 years and i had such a beautiful yard, esp. the shade garden. i became interested in gardening the first year we moved there. over the years, even tho i knew it would be terribly hard to leave the garden, i realized that we needed to make a change. we spent a year looking at property in central florida and settled here in umatilla last november. i am starting with a clean slate so to speak. there is not a plant on the property save for 2 beautiful stands of red cedar on either side of the house, 2 citrus trees and a pear tree. i brought up a few of my favorite potted and hanging plants (the ones i thought could take the change). so far every plant i had , save for a very few , i have seen here in one setting or another. the only difference is they look so much healthier and happier here! as much as i wanted to landscape instantly, i knew other things came first. so i am impatiently waiting for all work to be done so that i can get back to the ground! i have a list of plants that i want and i know where i am going to put everything. in the meantime , all of my garden books are semi-unpacked and between them and finding this website i can live in peace until i garden again! thanks for listening. debi
