Is it wise to move a flower that has unopened flower buds, but is in an undesirable place (it's a hardy annual)? Also, I planted some glads and lilies and some didn't come up, so now the spacing is off. They haven't yet formed flower buds. Can I move them to make it look less haphazard? Tamara
Changing location
What's your weather like?
Usually in upper 70s or low 80s. Humid. Night time temps in high 60s/low 70s.
Trouble with moving corms, tubers and bulbs is that they tend to have delicate root systems that break so very easily, could you fill the space with something else? If not, and you really want to move them about, make sure you have plenty of soil around the bulbous parts and replant immediately.
As for your annual, it's not advisable to move a plant in bud, especially an annual but again, if you really need or want to, take as much soil with the root ball as possible and replant immediately.
There is no guarentee for their survival but it's not an impossible task.
Well, this is all irrelevant now. My dr. has put me on bedrest, so I guess everything is just going to stay put. Thanks for the info, though!
