I sent this post to Darius, but thought I would post here as well, in case anyone had any answers. Thanks in advance for any help. Kathy
Hi Darius,
I have a friend (Kathy) that came to the farmers' market yesterday. She informed that her daughter Lindsay, (DD's 22 years old) who has been real sick all winter, has finally been diagnosed with having many food allergies. She has also suffered for years from severe asthma, which has been controlled, but due to these food allergies her asthma is requiring inhalers again.
She is primarily allergic to wheat, potatoes, corn and cannot have them at all.
Secondary allergies are: mold, garlic, onions, vinegar, yeast, cheese.
She has been living on rice cakes basically.
She can eat some fresh veggies and meats, but she can't even have dressing for her salads at this point.
I mentioned to Kathy that you had food allergies and knew many places where "odd" things could be purchased; also that you had some great recipes.
Do you have in mind any place she can order or peruse the site for foods that Lindsay could eat? and do you have a recipe or a place where she could get some dressing so that she could have a simple lettuce salad. She can have some herbs and her mother said she would make her olive oil and herb dressing, but she can't have the vinegar.
If you don't know, do you know anyone here at DG that might know?
I might just post this on Healthy Living as well.
Thanks for any help you can give me. :) Kathy
Help please :)
