A Teeny Tiny!!

Found this little guy today and chased it for about 1/2 hour trying to get a good shot. It's not the best but maybe someone can ID it for me. I can't find it in my book.

Hey, he was here on June 14 (or one of his cousins). I found this one on my Beach Sunflower. It is a very tiny creature because the flower is about the size of a daisy. I thought it might be some sort of moth.

Hey that's him!! I didn't think of a moth.
How did you get that picture so clear!! It's beautiful!!

Looks like a "Coffee Loving Pyrausta Moth" (Pyrausta tyralis). Or it might be a mint loving pyrausta or a raspberry pyrausta. If you google "coffee loving pyrausta", it will pull up a Moth Photographers Group web page that has pics of all of these. I found the name and a pic on another website http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/florida_butterflies&page=4 that Artcons mentioned in another thread.

Well that's it but it seem he was out of his neighborhood! I wish I could have gotten a better shot. Maybe I will see it again.

Good job on that id, Mark!

Thanks for the I.D. I thought it looked a little like a moth but otherwise had no idea what it was. I agree that it is the Coffee-Loving Pyrausta Moth. I actually have 2 varieties of Wild Coffee growing in my yard. I don't know if that is what attracted it to this area or not. I checked the Florida list of the State by State list provided at the Moths of North America website but they do not have the Coffee-Loving Pyrausta Moth listed. Still there is no doubt from the pictures that our creature is the Coffee Lover.
