You guys are really terrific!!!

There is a correct answer...at least one. Shall we announce the winners?

Knoxville, TN

Sure, go for it!

Walhalla, SC(Zone 7a)

Oh, Please do tell us :) Were excited to know!

Isn't it only about 6AM in Hawaii right now? Maybe we should let Carol get out of bed first, eh? LOL.

Walhalla, SC(Zone 7a)

LOL Nah, lets get her up!! :)...I didn't think about the time difference ...I guess we can let her sleep an hour or so more ha ha ha

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OK OK...I heard you guys. So now I am up....what's next? Oh yeah

Awanda was the first to correctly ID it - however, the name was not written correctly.

Susan wasn't first to ID it, but to write it correctly!

Guess both should get prizes, eh? I don't think I am being hardnosed about the name thingy, do you? Just like people, names are indicators for identification...

So, Awanda and Susan...here's a little glitch in the contest:- could you let us know how you came to ID the two flowers as H. sp. PNG-1?????????

Cindy is close with H. sp. PNG-4...the plants are very similar as are the flowers.

What amazes me is that not more people thought it was two different flowers. They are from the same plant and differ in size and color. Goes to show that color is NOT a reliable indicator for IDing.

Aloha, Carol

NEXT Contest coming soon to a thread near you.

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Carol, you don't have to send me a plant. I wasn't first.
I narrowed it down to H. sp. PNG-1 or H. sp. PNG - 4 based on what I could see of the leaves. Basically eliminating other species with easily recognizable flowers of similar shape and color.
I decided on H. sp. PNG -1 because of the white coloration in the center of the corona. I didn't see that on PNG-4.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Good deducing!!!

You will get one anyway, whether you want one or not!!!

LMAO

Congratulations Susan and Awanda!! Good detective work.

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Well I wish I could give you this complicated answer on how I figured out the answer, but I can't. I simply went and looked on your photo compendium:-).

Awanda

LOL, that's what I did too. Just too bad I wasn't quicker! LOL :)

Knoxville, TN

AHHH, excellent going Awanda and Susan!

This is the same plant as IML-70??? I bought it last spring from David Liddle, but, have not seen a bloom. Nice to know what it will look like. If memory serves me, I have had more than one name attached to this Hoya. I orderd it from David thinking it was H. kenjiana and if my memory serves me, it also has had H. aff. rubidia attached to it at one time.

Fabulous flower!

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Contests! Oh! how fun. Too bad I didn't check in before now.
Congratulations! Susan & Awanda.
