I SPY!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Both of my Creamsickles are budding now. I have to go out quite often and make sure the earwigs aren't feeding on them. I was so happy they hadn't got them, and I am seeing less of them lately.

Last year, with my seedlings, they didn't start budding until August. Glad I received these cuttings and was able to get to a quicker start. Oh - I managed to salvage one of my seedlings from last year, Isabella X. I chopped her down quite badly due to very unhealthy growth. She's doing great now and has also Y'd.

Here's my creamsickle bud.

That's fantastic. I'm so happy for you. Not about the earwigs though. They sure can hide well and munch away during the night.
That little bud is so cute. It even has a furry little hat to protect it durring the sunny days. LOL

Congrats. You are going to enjoy your flowers much longer this year...that is good. Looking forward to more Creamsickle pictures.

Very nice Karrie, I LOVE Creamsickle and your baby is adorable, the ONLY thing about the tiny ones, it takes them sooooo long to mature. Worth the wait, but those days run into weeks, whew...

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. Don't worry - I'm not going to be out there "unpatiently" waiting for it, lol! I did that last year and it about drove me crazy. I noticed the furry little hat too! I'd never seen that before. Is it because it's a double?

That was a really hard picture to take. So pardon my finger - I had to hold back some leaves to get a shot. I used the macro and it took about 10 pics to get a good one. Thank goodness for digitals!

Today I went out, (it's supposed to get around 95 degrees) and saw both the Whiskers and the Creamsicle that were planted in the ground, just wilting. They looked so pathetic! I didn't water them yesterday, not thinking they needed it. So I watered them real well about an hour ago. I just checked them again and they've perked back up - tiny little hairy bud and all! :-)

Ok - I ran across this one this morning, on another Creamsickle (I have two). There are actually 3 buds, but this one is the biggest. I didn't notice it before because it was hidden from my view.

That is an adorable fuzzy wuzzy, Karrie!!!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

hairy little boogers, aren't they!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

That last bud that I posted is now 6 inches long and getting bigger. I'll take a pic of it later, when it isn't so hot outside (90 out there right now). The rest of that Creamsicle is doing very well - I think I counted over 10 buds the other day. It gets much more sun than the other one I have, but also faces the higher temps and the wind, so it looks more battered than the other one. The ones I have planted on the East side of the house are almost damage free - gorgeous and big leaves. Weather sure has a big impact on these.

Question: How do you spell it, really? Creamsicle (like the popsicle) or Creamsickle? I've seen it both ways.

The gallerys both show sickle.

Mine has a small bud too. Let the waiting begin.

Here's some pics (finally) of my largest one.

Notice the damage on the leaves of this one? This is the one that is out in the full sun and heat.

Here's the one that is on the east side of the house, where there is less wind, and it is also under the eave of the house so that it doesn't get the pounding rain either.

This is the one that has the tiny buds.

Looking good. I hope you will post a picture of the opened flower when it is ready.

Oh definitely, Shirley! This particular bud was the biggest and one of the first. There are several others (like maybe 15 or so) that are right behind it - maybe 1 1/2 weeks or so. They will all most likely bloom about the same time, and I'll be having a beautiful flush. The new growth on the top is also producing more buds, so I'll also be enjoying blooms for a long time on this plant.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I have a sneaking suspicion that this one bloom is going to open over the weekend when we're up at the lake. I'll just have to take some pics of it when I get back. It is almost open. It really isn't looking like a double. (???)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Does it feel like one? I hope it waits for you. This is one big flower. I love mine. Sounds like you will have plenty of flowers. I only have 1 bud on mine. I recall NHE calling theirs Cream sickle with a space. I just went to check and they do not have it listed right now. I believe they are the creators of it so I try to follow how they spelled it.

Have a fun weekend Karrie!

Thanks everyone! I checked a gallery and it shows the registered spelling is "Creamsickle."

I'm going to start a new thread with my pics I took today, because I was right - it opened when I was at the lake (boy did I get some heat and some sun!).
