I have only had 2 seedlings that were pink coming out of the calyx. One would rot when it fully emerged before it opened. Every single bloom for a whole summer showed such promise then just rottted. I was thinking of selling it as the perfect gift for your Ex.
Then the other one, the first bud fell off!! I had more coming and just before they were to open, the tree fell over and the entire Y broke off. It was too late last year for it to regrow, so I never saw the bloom open. I had visons of pink sugar plums dancing in my head. I was SO frustrated.
That is so frustrating Kell. When they fall or tip over and break. That would happen to me all the time when I first started growing brugs. Pots that were not wide at the bottom and falling over snapping the limbs or buds off. I learned quickly about suitable pots for their rapid growth.
That is so neat that they were pink in color as they emerged from the calyx. ARE you sure the pink sugar plum fairy didn't just paint them specifically for you......?? LOL

I had the bud on my very first seedling break off when the plant fell in its container in the wind!
I hope it is a beauty! Tell me, if it is will this finish your quest for the perfect dark pink? ;-)
Maybe then you can just ENJOY and stop searching!
Seems these things always happen to your special ones that you have waited so long to see. I guess patience IS a virtue??

Oh Margie, that must have killed you. Did the seedling have lots more buds? When I find that perfect pink, my fun will be over I fear. The quest is much more fun than the victory I think!
This is from a brug that grew all last summer but did not bloom. I sure hope I get to see it soon. LOL

kell...it was its only bud!!! Now to wait again...Right now I have so many plants blooming that I am less stressed over each one...Patience, it is teaching me!!

Thanks, Donna. I have a good feeling about this brug. LOL!! I have gotten a few great colored brugs from this cross. I am seeing pink fairy dust all over it. Though unfortunately a harsh wind blew over it a little after 12 noon, and do you believe knocked it over!!! So I have to wait a bit longer to achieve pinkdom. I can be patient. LOL!!!
