Hello

Rose Hill, NC(Zone 8a)

Well I am back.
I see from the top post of new rules things have changed.
I am here to have fun with my plants and plant friends.

Some of you all may know that I lost most of my collection of burgmansia last fall. One of the foster kids sprayed H20 sol. fert. on the leaves for me. The problem was he used the sprayer marked 'Roundup'
Between that and some things said I just droped out via being so depressed.

I was lucky in some ways that I had a few back ups and have started rebuilding my collection. I have planted all the seeds I had. Some several years old. But germinating. :-)
A crop of seedings that have a double parent didn't get sprayed.
So I am looking for trades. I have perennial hibiscus seeds and will have tropical Hibiscus cuttings later on.
I bought seeds from Dick Johnson in Thaiti. These Tropical Hibiscus seedlings should be fantastic when they bloom. I have 68 that are 6 mo. old and 114 seedlings that are 3 mo. old and have planted app. 400 seeds that are now germinating. I will also release 2 new Brugmansia cvs this fall.

I have some Dioscorea batatas taters left. If you haven't had the pleasure of the perfume of this "Ciannamon Vine" you have missed out. I have some taters off the female variegated leaf vine and some reg. colored male vine.
Pluse other hard to find Dioscorea and Ipomoea seeds. Climbing Aster rooted cuttings too! they are great in the fall.
So if any of you have some cuttings to spare please let me know at daturapod@aol.com
Thanks
Larry

Oh I got over 1,500 Ipomoea indica seeds from my crosses last summer... yes Virginia they do make seeds after all. LOL

That is so sad. What an error. The child must have been so upset also. You must still have nightmares, Larry. Glad you are back!! I am sure we all can get you started again.

Hi Larry, I have an extra B. Desiree and B. creamsickle if you could use those. Let me know.

Hi Larry. Welcome back. I have a horror of doing just that. I have one tank I use for sprays and one I use for Roundup and I'm always afraid I'll pick up the wrong one.

Hi Larry, I still have a Matelea Decipiens with your name on it, just need your Addy. I have extra Dioscorea Villosa if you need any of thoes for your collection. PLMK

Hi Larry! So, you were able to get Ipomoea to produce seeds after all. I'm not sure that is a good thing, given how invasive that vine is. I remember when your foster child used Round up on your brug collection, but according to an old email, it was in early 2004. It couldn't have been last fall. You must mean fall of 2003 or spring of 2004. I had sent you some rooted Ipomoea vines for your hybridization project, but you couldn't sent me anything in return because your collection had received the Roundup from your foster child according to this old email. I was so sad because I was such a brug newbie back then. Anyway, I just saw your other thread, and it looks like you've got quite a collection now so I'm glad to see that you've come back strong from that most unfortunately incident.

It seems Clare by the dates of these threads that Larry must have had a second Roundup foster child mishap since he stated on his newest thread that he lost most of his "new" ones.
Larry did you ever get your contest idea off the ground? Did you ever find a group that was willing to send you cuttings of all their new crosses so that you could grow them to flowering stage and judge them for the best new hybrid???

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

That could be, but you wouldn't think that sort of thing could happen twice! Yikes!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Nope, you would'nt think so.
