Mine are in pots . I've always watered every evening but, last year my plants began to yellow and then drop leaves. We had much more rain last summer than normal, though. How often does everyone else water?
How often do you water your hibiscus?
We get a lot of rain, and have high humidity, but hibiscus isn't one of my water-hogs. I don't water until they dry out. I worry about root rot when it rains too much (like now). But it might be a different story where you are.

JuBabe, I was just wandering around and saw your question, wondering the same thing myself. Mine are in pots, too, but seem to dry out almost every day. I water them nearly every day because they seem really thirsty. The leaves haven't yellowed yet. It's been in the 90's an awful lot here lately, though.

Sounds like you're 'enjoying' our same heatwave, Polly. We have to water almost all of our outdoor potted plants that are in full sun almost every day. I made a huge mistake of putting some passion flowers in some dinky 3 gallon (+/-) pots. On really blazing days we sometimes have to water them twice.
Bogweed, it's been so hot here lately it feels like a furnace when you walk outside. Last Tuesday it was 100 degrees according to the Time & Temperature phone number. My July electric bill was double that of June. I remember when I was a kid, weather like this didn't bother me much, but it sure does now. We were in a car with air conditioning needing repair the other day and thought of how we used to get along just fine without it. Only the "rich" people had cars with air conditioning. I couldn't get along without it now! DG says I'm in zone 6A, but garden magazines say I'm in 5. Many times, we share the same weather patterns as you do, though.

Philly here, same hot/humid weather. I have 4 beautiful healthy hibiscus plants, 2 in pots that I water every day till water starts to drip out bottom of pots(no yellow leaves) and 2 in ground that I water every day(1 or 2 yellow leaves that I pick of every day). Maybe to much water in ground??? All 4 plants have tons of flowers and buds.
Oddly enough, they only need to be watered about once a week and they're not even the drought tolerant versions.
