Used Bayer's Advanced Rose Systemic last month

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I used Bayer's rose systemic last month. According to directions, I need to reuse it mid-July, but the spider mites are back on a few of my Brugs. Would I burn my Brugs if I use it this soon? Should I use something different. I try to spray the underside of the leaves when I water.

Looking at the link for Bayer's Rose Systemic at http://www.bayeradvanced.com/garden/products/details.cfm?id=44 I don't see spider mite on this list of insects killed by using this product. I'm dealing with spider mites right now and the brain at a local nursery here recommended a good miticide (Kelthane) that works really well. I bet there are others out there besides this product. I wish systemics worked for spider mites as these buggers are so dang hard to get rid of.

Me too!!! I am up at 5a.m. tomorrow to spray Avid and strip leaves before I do. It is important to respray frequently to get the eggs that hatch. I hate them!!!!! I think itwas Kell who said that the Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub drench worked on S.mites....

Dang!

No Carol, sadly Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub does not kill mites. I sure wish it did. I love the ease of use on that one. I have used it to kill hard scale and am trying it on cucumber beetles now though that beetle is not listed, I am hopeful!!

And Emily, you have the wrong rose product from Bayer. The only one I know that kills mites is the Bayer Advanced™ 2-in-1 Systemic Rose and Flower Care Ready-To-Use Granules.

Veronica, I use it more frequently but I always make sure my plant is not dry. I have found if it very dry it drinks up too much and can burn. Good luck!!! I also use Neem to kill mites.

Don't you all just hate mites??

The amount of Avid, according to label works out to 1 teaspoon for 4 gallons of water. Is that what you use? Applied every 7 days?

kell, the 2-in-1 is what I used on the roses and the brugs. I use it about once a month, but not a lot. I use about a capful which looks like about 1/3 c. My roses were getting insects back again so I fertilized them. It had been about a month.

I used the Bayer 2 & 1 this early spring to attempt to get rid of those pesky spider mites. I also tried several sprays & drug all 27 out of the GH daily for 4-5 days & sprayed them off with a fairly strong stream of water. Still had them. I got some Floramite & it worked wonders. 5 days & they were gone. Have to repeat every 21 days. It's not cheap but you could always share with 2 or 3 others. It goes a long way. Bj
