The new rock garden at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

I was on a business trip to Truro June 15-18. The ex-director of the Memorial University Botanical Garden in Newfoundland is currently building a new rockery at the NSAC in Truro (his retirement project....and what a project!). The following are some random pics of the garden....remember that this garden is only 3 years old! Here's the entrance to the Garden.

and the flag-stone walkway complete with creeping thyme. It's amazing what they accomplished in such a short time.

Hi Kaleem...nice to see you in the Canadian forum!

Hi Donna; yes, they did a wonderful job. I'll have to send some pics of our local botanical garden rockery...you can see many similarities....not surprising considering they both had the same designer!

It's gorgeous Todd Ü

.......now I want to win the lottery so he can come do my yard!!!

Well designed.!!! Thank you for the photos Todd.
Great to see govt. $$ being spent in a good way for a change.

Wonder if garden is kept up by student and staff volunteers. That is how the Brandon U. lily gardens are run and stocked.

Inanda in steamy Manitoba

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Inanda, their rock garden is run by volunteers mainly. The college has put some money in and they have gotten a grant from the North American Rock Garden Society for $6500 US. Most of the plants are donations. Even our botanical garden has sent them plants and they have some that we don't have so it will be nice to set up a trade between us.

Great looking rock garden. I'm sure you had a wonderful trip.
