I was recently searching on the internet about bleach alternatives for another project, and stumbled upon a couple of articles about using Sodium Percarbonate as an algaecide in lakes. Has anyone tried this in their pond? I'd love to know if it worked since it would be less of a hassle to add the powder to a larger pond than a dozen bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide. I think it's sold as a laundry booster under a different name. Oxy boost or something?

Anyone tried Sodium Percarbonate for algae?
I guess not. Oh well, I can be a pioneer.
I am going to try it, so will test small amounts at first and see what happens to the string algae. DH majored in Chemistry, so I can blame him if something goes wrong. he he he.
Galega, Just saw your post. I would be interested in your results. Been using H2O2 and I am very pleased with the results. I don't find it much of a hassle to add the liquid H2O2 but it is always nice to hear of new things. My only complaint is the parrot's feather does not do well in water treated with peroxide. Does anyone else have this problem or am I blaming the peroxide when it is something else?
