Does anyone want a bunch of tiny maple trees before they go bye bye to the trash?
Baby Maple Trees
What kind of maples (she asks, mentally juggling the back yard planting plan)?
Critter,
You had to ask didn't you. :) I don't know if they are hard or soft maple. I don't know how to tell the difference.
I have some that have seeded from the neighbors lovely tree-probably an Amur maple-great color.
Haven't been feeling well, but when I perk up a bit could get some dug for you. Most are about 8-12 inches tall.
These are red maple I believe. They look a lot like the picture of the young ones in my treee book.
I have silver maple I can offer. Quite lovely, likes water, the seed stage is a bit messy tho....

Guys I am trying to find homes for tree not get trees.
Heh, I think we are all swimming in maple here. Never thought to offer them, you started a trend. Sorry to hop in on your thread.
Oops, read it wrong.
Wow, now we have a choice of maple seedlings! :-) Perhaps I'll get some little volunteers around my Japanese Butterfly maple next spring, and then I'll have my own to offer...
I have 3 red & a silver maple in the back yard already, so I'm not sure I can fit more, but I sent out email to my neighbors who keep saying, "we should get some trees to put in." I'll see what I can do, makshi, as I know how hard it is to compost seedlings.
However, that Amur maple looks like a smaller/shorter tree, and I know I can find spaces for them! You certainly don't need anything extra to worry about while you're recovering from whatever's got you down, Marcia, but when you come around, I'd be happy to send you postage or arrange a trade in exchange for some of those little seedlings.
Makshi, I got almost an immediate response back from one friend.... her brother just built a new house, and she'd love a bunch of red maple seedlings! We can foster them in a nursery bed for a couple of years, and I'll bet the'll do fine. PLMK if you're looking for anything at the moment, or I'd be more than happy to send postage (or send paypal if that's an option for you).
Makshi, I'd be interested in some of your seedlings......do you have a couple left? I can see if anything I have interests you, or do postage.
LMK,
=) MKJ
Critter and MKJ You have happy little tree headed your way.
Crit--I hope you are planing growing lots of trees. You can fit a lot of them in a small box. I stoped counting after 30.
MKJ--I sent you a few about 6 or so. Hope that was enough.
Oh, wow!! Please send me Dmail and let me know how much postage to get out to you. Thanks so much!!!
Same here! You are so nice! =D I'd like to send you postage or something for you garden. I saw on your trade "want" list that you'd like wintergreen? I Plant File'd that, but there was several different plants under that name.......
You made my day, Makshi!! =)

I am just so happy to have them all saved. They aren't big but I am sure they will grow rather quickly. I have one that I saved about 6 weeks ago and it is growing quite nicely. I am the nut that puts trees in containers and grow them so I can drag them around when I have to move. I have a mulberry tree (not sure why) that I grew from the very beginning and it is now 6 or 7 ft. tall now.
