I suppose it must be some kind of impatien

Maybe a New Guinea Impatien?

Generally shade loving, water hungry annuals or tender perennials.

Does any of that sound right?

Ok, that's just weird . . . LOL!

I can find one African Impatiens at Burpee.com
http://www.burpee.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=4270&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword=blondie

They say Impatiens - African, Blondie
The finest yellow impatiens yet, and the perfect choice for the shade.
Big clusters of rich yellow, hooded flowers - brushed delicately with red and violet. 'Blondie' makes big plants (18-24" tall) but is more compact and displays it's dreamy flowers more prominently than 'African Queen'. It grows very well in deep shade. Annual.

Annie's Annuals has a pink one . . . http://www.anniesannuals.com/signs/i%20-%20k/impatiens_stuhlmannii_p.htm

But I think it's still going to be a shade-loving water-hungry annual or tender perennial. ;-)

Glad to help. =)

It would be such a waste to send me a cutting . . . I've never been able to root impatiens. I don't know why . . . it's supposed to be very easy. Thanx anyway.

The only ones I have anymore are the old fashioned ones - the ones that are supposed to be annual. They are tender perennial for me and they re-seed. They do fine as long as I don't touch them. LOL They come and go as they please . . . sigh
