First Blooms!!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

I'm so proud of my babies! The first leaves I started have finally turned into blooming plants. The purple one is an unnamed mini, and it had been so long since I got the leaf I had forgotten what color the flowers were. It really is pretty-- much prettier in real life than in the picture-- with the purple on the bottom and white above. The second is the fist flowerer from a batch of leaves I got from eBay late last summer. It's a Rob's Heat Wave. It's so rewarding to finally get to see the fruits of my labor!

Thank you! I've started so many plantlets since then that I feel like a pro (well, sort of anyway!), but it sure is special to see my first plants blooming. And the unnamed mini is so much cuter than I remembered! I just sent its clones home with my mom and sister-in-law today. :)

Wow, Dana, you have the magic touch with these plants. Wow!

Hi Dana,
Those are nicely grown!
I really like the purple one - love the dark leaves and the subtle color shading on the flowers.

The purple one sure looks stunning now! It's actually the unnamed mini that I was asking about before, because it has the extra leaves growing on it-- the trailer-like growth. It will be interesting to see what it does.

And I'm really surprised that the Heat Wave bloomed so quickly. It still has its first leaves on it, and none of them are as big as the parent leaf yet, or as dark green. I'm not complaining, though-- it was a wonderful surprise!
