Anyone else?
Get an D-mail from blue7moonshadow ?? I looked - not a subscriber -- asked for plants I do have but have not offered (well Iris yeah --but also asked for Hosta -- which I mentioned I had set aside for the RU)
This person just became a member yesterday. And very specifially asked for iris. also offered raspberry and blueberries and glads if I was willling to wait a few days.
Maybe I am jumping the gun, it's a newbie and I asked wierd questions when I was a newbie.
I D-mailed back and just asked what offer she was refering to.
Selene -- if you are reading this and you are legit -- we just had someone mass email alot of us for plants we didn't have ect... so forgive me if I am being overly cautious.
Heather
I just got one from her too. But I had hostas and peony's for trade. She didn't answer the trade thread though it was D-mail.
Lana
As I rule, I just don't respond to anyone I have not established trades before with unless they are responding to an offer. Been scammed too many times
Dog! Left out again!! You'd think that, as much as I post and am involved in secret trades, that ONE person who does these mass Dmails asking for all kinds of plants would ask me. But Noooooooooo. (sigh) Always the bridesmaid, never the bride...
I got email too, asking for plants had berrys and ebay items
aww pins -- I'll mass d-mail ya! LOL!!!!
OK-- I'm blowin her off.
Heather
I've only been a (paid) member since 5/1/05 so, just out of curiosity, why would someone mass mail such requests for plants?
Arlene
I have no idea.
They could be new to gardening/trading/internet, etc. Trading etiquette takes a while to develop with some people. Sometimes people just don't know how to ask for stuff.
Other people mail as many requests as they can, get a bunch of stuff, never pay the postage then disappear or change names.
LOL, I don't turn on the news anymore in the morning, I just read DG....
Its like TV.....
I just received the same e-mail..Offering hostas which she apparently has an abundance of...blueberries and rasberries...
I remember when I started how many people were good to me. We were all there once.I have no problem in helping out if I can in trading with anyone..If, it's not going to be on the up & up they have to live with it-I figure.
We will see and give the person the chance to establish herself in trading. It will be up to them to see what they make out of it.
Ingrid
that is wierd-- she ASKED me for hosta.
She hasn't replied to me D-mail at all so we'll see....
Heather
No reply here yet...either
The hosta she has are growing wild all over her yard..Maybe, you have another she doesn't have??
We'll see.
I love all the mysteries on the DG forums and threads! It's my morning show, too, LuLu.
""hum no idea sent a ton of email am looking for anything that flowers i have a mostly green all over yard so am looking for flowers to add color to it,, ;>)""
That is the reply I got. I sent her .....
""Selene,
You may have some difficulty in making trades if you are not a subscriber. I myself was a little suprised by your email. I did have Iris for thrade but at the end of the thread I had closed it until the trades I already have going are completed. I have no hosta up for trade.
We recently had someone join our group (as a member) and within hours d-mail 50+ members for plants that we didn't have. That person just wanted free plants and was banned within hours. And that is not the first time. So my caution is earned. Again-- that incident may make it more difficult for you - you joined 2 days ago and are emailing a "ton" of us for plants. Also while I realize you can't see the whole thread- you should still email in refence to a specific thread. Just asking for plants without some point of refence - for me at least - is a HUGE red flag.
Dave's is a GREAT place and there are lots of willing and freindly people who are terrific traders. I would Love to get to know you a little better and maybe we can work something out. I see that you are in PA (as I am) and love to find traders in my "neck of the woods" so to speak.
Please bear in mind -- I am not saying any of this meanly or to cause you pain (I hate that email is so impersonal - no tone of voice or facial cues to give better communication) Just to give you a better idea of what may be going on with alot of us.
As it is -- I have no need of Blueberries or raspberry. and Have a ton of Glads myself. Is ther anything else you are looking to trade?
Heather
P.s. --- the $15 is sooooooooo worth it! I cannot tell yo how much I have learned and benifitted from this board.""
Too harsh?? -- not enough?? I also wanted to tell her a please and thank you would not be amiss, but I was really not wanting to be rude.
Heather
Perfect. If I were she I'd consider it a good life lesson and yet you weren't harsh at all.
I got an email from my 'mini roses for trade' asking for some of them, though the person had nothing to offer. I replied that I wanted to trade for ones I didn't have but, if I didn't get any responses, I would consider postage. She did not reply...
HMMM?
Barb
