Hi all, just got a message from Donna's daughter that she had emergency surgery on thursday!!!! Gallbladder, she may not be home for awhile. I wanted everyone to know in case you don't hear from her for a little while, they say she will be down for 2-3 weeks. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Good Grief! Poor Donna. Most of the time they blame that going bad on being heavy and I know how hard she has been working to lose weight. That just stinks! I hope she was able to get the laparascopic and not the old way. It is supposed to be a much better recovery. Send her a big hug from me.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Tell Donna I am thinking about about her and praying all goes well. Also praying she is back on her feet in no time

Positive thoughts and a speedy recovery.
Thanks for letting us know.

I know lots of skinny people that have the gallbladder go bad. However, there's been an increase in problems since the popularity of the Atkins diet. The more fat, the more the gallbladder has to work, and if you've got a little stone in there and it's pushing out bile a mile a minute it's going to hurt if that stone gets stuck. Yowzer! Been there, done that.

I sure hope she got to have it out the laparascopic way. Will keep her in my prayers.

i'm chanting for laparoscopy, too, and SPEEDY recovery. my husband had it done the old fashioned way, and that's no fun.

Had that surgery last fall - took me a while to recover as I still had stones in the duct works that had to pass. But, lost 11 lbs!! - and have kept it off!! Good luck Donna - you'll feel much better now that the GB is gone!

Thank you all for your caring, kindness and prayers! I heard that she only had 3 small incisions, so I am thinking this is the "newer" way?? I am daft when it comes to this stuff so bare with me here. They say it's not a matter of time, it's a matter of when she can "do" certain things, that they will release her. I will keep you all updated as I know more.

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery, Donna.

Thanks for the update, Laurrie.

Thanks for the updates Laurrie. That sure sounds like the newer, much kinder way. My sister in law got both. LOL Apparently her ducts were blocked and they though they could do it laparascopically. The made the small incisions and looked around and decided no way. She was jaundiced, blood counts were out of whack, etc. The old way, you get at least a nice 5 inch incision. That is the route they ended up going.

I really, hope our sweet little friend recovers fast. I had my appendix done that way last year and was up and around the next day. I think the gall bladder might be worse though. She might expect certain foods to aggravate her too.

Hi everyone, and thank you so much for your well wishes & prayers. I really appreciate your kind words.

The doctor told me yesterday when I went to have my drainage tube removed, that in 30 years he has never seen one so bad. It was infected & 4 times normal size and he said that it took him over 3 hours, twice as long, and he was about ready to give up & split me open. So I am very thankful for all the prayers that were being said for me, because I know that his patience was heaven sent.

I am on the road to recovery and looking forward to doing my own chores. I have been very blessed with my family taking over for me completely and on a positive note, they really seem to appreciate all that I do...LOL

Donna, I'm so glad to hear you are much better. Gallbladder problems are very painful. Glad they didn't have to do it the old fashion way, as I've heard that is really painful and takes a long recuperation period.

Donna, I'm glad to hear you're on your road to recovery. Take care and don't overdo.

Remember that it is surgery, even done laparoscopic. I had mine done 14 yrs ago lap. Had it done on Thur and went to family reunion (locally) on Sunday. Amazing how quickly the body heals. Had gastric bypass 2 years ago (open surgery) which took a bit longer to recover. Just relax and let others pitch in for awhile. No need for post op complications.

Donna, I thank God that you are well, now. These days are so busy that I have little time to check in with Dave's. I am glad that I am able to hear of your good recovery at the same time of your illness. Take good care of yourself.
