this has been a plant I've been watching for hte last month. One bloom opened yesterday, and there's one more that will probably open in a week or so.

mobisu cross
That is a very pretty flower. As cold as it has been in Iowa this year, I probably could have grown one. LOL!
Very pretty bloom. Congrats!
Look at that stigma, Linda!! I think it wants to make a pod. LOL. These make such stately blooms. Congrats!!! I bet you are so thrilled!
Way to go! It's beautiful!!
:) Donna

Looks great Linda!
Congratulations!! Its great!
Linda, she is very pretty!
I love it!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! Awesome blooms, I know you are thrilled.
gorgeous! nice pics!
Wow!! that is gorgeous.
Stunning bloom !
How long is it and is there any fragrance ?
Love the blooms, Linda
Beautiful blooms! Looks quite similar to Brugansia sanguinea, which uses the red colored blooms to attract its pollenators and is the only species to lack fragrance.
gorgeous!!! what a beauty.....that is definately a keeper
Your cross is very beautiful Linda, lovely shape and the color is very nice. I see that you live in zone 8b, what are your temps like?? Is your cross grown in the grown and do you winter yours outside??
I have them out in the spring, summer and fall, but in the shade, except for a couple of hours of morning sun.
In the winter, I bring them all in. I have a covered deck, makeshift GH with a bit of heat, to prevent in case we get a freeze.
This cross is Brugcrazy's, I'm just lucky enough to grow it out for her.
here's today's shot
LOL Kin. LOL.
Lovely Linda!!
Linda, I'm sorta a zone addict and, or just interested in what 'my' zone is like in different parts of the world. And, I see beautiful brugs like your cross and wish they would grow here - and, fortunately some do, Maya, so far, being the best easiest. Have you ever left on out to winter in the ground?? If I could change my zone, I'd give away wintering them in the ground for enough cold weather to grow brugs such as yours...
How exciting-wish we could grow them here
Ditto, Barb, I'd love to grow them here. One thing I do like about our area is that, now and then, we do get some flashy color and wintering outside is a bonus...
SOOOO jealous!
What a beauty!
Hi Sherry, I've been away for a few days so didn't get back to you. I tried last year to over winter outside a couple of brugs. They didn't make it. I left then in pots and wondered if they'd do OK. I watched a brug in someone elses yard, that was in the dirt, and it hasn't come back yet this year. His bananas did, but not the brug. So, I won't be leaving any brugs that I want to keep, outside over the winter.
Here's a picture when both blooms were out.
They have kept their shape, but are fading in colour.
Linda
I love the color.
It is very pretty, i love the color and the stripes and the shape!! Linda, did you mulch the brugs you left in the ground?? In my Arky zone 8a, I would not think they would live in pots, but I had some Upees that did last year. I mulch the brugs left in the ground heavily, two sacks of mulch each. If you leave some out this year, I'd love to know which ones and when your first hard freeze is - last year, ours was Dec 15, then we had a late freeze, that didn't bother the brugs, but our fruit crop was off by about 1/3...
Sherry, no I didn't mulch the brugs, but had them close to the house and under the eaves. We dodn't usually get a freeze in Dec, and maybe only a solid freeze for a week in Jan, like this last Jan. We had a week of -5 to -10 Celcius so about 20*F at our coldest.
Most of them I bring onto my deck, which has a light covering on it, and I have a big light bulb and a small heater, just to keep them from freezing. ugh, talking about winter already... yuk!
What a beauty .... congrats to the both of you. I am with CC ... so jealous! Mobisu is one of my all time favorites.
