What is the most fragrant night bloomer?

Buffalo, WV(Zone 7a)

I would like to know what night bloomers are super fragrant. Color doesn't matter as much as scent to me since I won't have lighting on my pond to see the blooms most of the time but would sure like to smell them.
Thanks,
Lana

A very fragrant evening bloomer is NOT a water plant--Brugmansia!!! The blossoms are pretty large and colors vary but WOW--the aroma will KNOCK your socks off--and anyone within yards of your house!! A very light, pleasant fragrance--very romantic sort of scent!! I hear Moonvine is another one--also NOT a water plant. I do not know of any water plants which are fragrant having no experience in that area. Bonnie

The night blooming water lilies are fragrant or most are. I will certainly keep the brugs in mind also :~) I'll have plenty of room for planting non-aquatics around the pond.
Thanks. Lana

My all-time favorite is nicotiana alata (flowering tobacco). It's sweet-smelling like jasmine, just wonderful. The flowers are white and it grows about 36" tall. I've had it overwinter here in zone 5, and it also self-seeds. We love having it around our patio and pond area.

The white type is the most fragrant. Stores sell shorter varieties in different colors, but some of them have no fragrance.
