Is anyone familiar with "Mystic" ?

Myrtle Beach, SC

I purchased this new release recently called "Mystic". She is supposed to have been trial grown by seed hybridized in Germany in 2004. The tendrils turn back instead of forward, giving it a quilted look.
The blooms are supposed to open white then change to apricot/orange.
Anxious to see how she does.

I looked it up and it is by Ludger Schneider. The parent plant is Apricot Riese X unknown. And grown out by Brenda Delph and it has not been released yet.

I also have an Apricot Riese X but bloom pod fell off in TS last weekend, so still haven't seen a bloom on mine yet. Sure hope it's a keeper like Tatiana and Dorthea(sisters of his Rubiline cross) he made from Monikas seedlings.

Well Donna and Margo, please post pics when you get some blooms. Sounds so interesting. Ludger really has done great this year in his hybridizing.

LOL huzzy flower too! LOL

But if I'm reading that correctly...Apricot Riese X unknown is named 'mystic'? Im still confrused LOL

That is how it appears. :)
I thought we were looking for my friend Peggy. LOL

If Apricot Riese was pollinated with a moth and the pollen donor is unknown a seedling from that cross can still be named if it turns out to be worthy of a name even if the father was unknown.
In this case Apricot Riese x unknown produced a seedling which was named Mystic.

LOl Chele and Julie. On some forum I tried to take the name Flower Floozie, maybe I was lucky it was taken. LOL

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL You're too cute Chele!!!! I'm laughing my patootie off here!

Ahhhh thanks for answering that question snowhermit :-) I could have sworn that it was if you didn't know the parentage of a seedling being that of pollination by a moth or 'x' or '?' lol...that it couldn't be named...hmm learn something everyday. I can see alot of peeps out there with named seedlings x ? naming their brugs. IF they are worthy. I think I'm understanding that the way you said it, correct?

For some of the new peeps out there in DG what are some of the worthy traits of a keeper?

Thaks everyone for the information :))

Yes I would have to have a Mystic if it was named for our Peggy!! Sounds like a Mothra to me.
