Passiflora subrotunda

Floresville, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi all, I haven't had much to post in here this year until now:-)

The first bloom on P. subrotunda, which I started from Brazillian seed last September.

I didn't even know there were buds until I was outside watering a few minutes ago and saw a purple thing up in the plant from afar and it was indeed a bloom.

Somehow I thought they would've been bigger, but as you can see here, they're only around 2 inches at most.

Hey, you've got inventory then you've got the Roundup. Where you gonna find time to put it in the ground this weekend? :-)

Mine is in a 24 inch pot Mark. I don't want to risk losing it in the ground this winter, a fate several that I didn't move suffered last year:-(

How tall is your vine? How many gal is a 24 inch pot? is that a 15 gal?

Very cool, I too am jealous as that is 1 more Passiflora I do not have darnit.
I keep several passion flowers in pots and in the ground. It is very funny how they all have very different likes and dislikes. I get better blooms from some in pots when kept slightly rootbound while others look sad when kept in pots.
So this summer I have atleast 2 of all in pots and in the ground to see who preffers what.
Our weather has been incredible for some plants but most are so sad. We've had over 6 inches of rain this month alone with much cooler than usual temps. Most all of my tropicals are so sad and confused
I am happy to report I have buds all over my P. Amethystina for the first time in the 1 1/2 years I've had here. I have another I think is P. Incense that should be exploding any day now too. WOOHOO!

Have you gotten around to making any cuttings yet? You have such an awesome collection and I'd love to get in on a few of them.
Ever since I switched rooting medium to those Rapid rooter's, I'm getting roots in less than 1 week and in 2 weeks they have a strong enough root system to handle transplanting most anywhere.
This part of them really kills me. I haven't had space to keep my rooting/cutting trays under indoor lights and it's too hot outside for them anywhere. I've been shuffling these trays from room to room, occasionally setting them in sunlight from a window. It seems the less effort I put into them, the faster they root and the better they do. I think leaving them alone and not hovering over them daily to check moisture etc., The better. They have spent a few days in a row under regular house lihting and they aren't stretching at all. It seems to help them focus more on rooting when slightly starved for light. I used to keep the trays on heat mats under growlights and it always worked well but not nearly as fast as this neglectful way. Truly amazing plants.
Zos, lemme know if your still interested in trading.
Thanks all, JD

I honestly have no idea how many gallons the pot is, but 15 would be a good guess I think. It's growing on a trellis made from concrete reinforcing mesh that I made into a round cage thing that's slightly smaller than the pot and sits inside it. It's about 6 feet tall, and the vine is growing all over it. Kinda hard to explain, so here's a pic:
