Dear DG gardeners, I just joined this week and am happy to be amongst such a fine group of gardening folks. I have a woodlands border garden and a backdoor garden. I've really enjoyed all the forums and photos. So much to share. Thank you to those who already helped me with my peony dilemma.
Hello from Southeastern, Massachusetts
let me be the first to welcome you to daves garden. this is a great place. we are practically neighbors with me coming from upstate new york. enjoy
Welcome wagon knocking from New Mexico.. ☺
Thank you Herbie43 and angele, I do appreciate being amongst such fine folks...Looking forward to many good times and sharing in the future.
Welcome to Davesgarden! Beautiful peony - thanks for posting the picture.
hope you post more of your beautiful pictures over in the photo forum, can't wait to see them.
It's fun to share, isn't it? That rose of yours is pretty near to perfection. :-)
thanks angele, it's a Morden Blush...they do well in my cold climate...the roses I planted last year are the first ones I've had survive through winter. This is one of them. I had to do a lot of research to find Roses that would do well in my area and please my sensibilities. I'm very fond of pale pinks, cream, and soft yellows. I also can't always remember the names of everything I plant, though I do try to write them down in my journal or save the tags....That Morden Blush was my first, and dear to my heart...Do you have any pics to share? Mary
That Morden Blush looks as creamy as fresh butter (that's a clumsy compliment but heartfelt). Have you spent any time at any other forums yet? (besides peony, I mean) I know there is a rose forum. I don't have any yet so besides popping in a couple of times I don't know anything about it. I visit the photo forum A LOT. Folks over there will take several pictures and post them in a thread and it is great to take a 'walk' with them around their yard or get to see what they saw on vacation.
I lived in upstate NY a very long time ago. I remember how beautifully things grew there. I miss my double white lilac and my hedge of peonies. As far as plants go I just about like them all- bright and pastel. I won’t say which ones but there are a few plants I wrinkle my nose at. :~)
Many of my pictures are from hikes or jeep trips I take. Here's a link to my most recent one. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/519936/
Don't have a lot going on in my yard right now. Lots of new plants because I just moved here at the end of October. Made a few mistakes and learning what does ok here. I have some Balsam that is doing well but that I am not crazy about. The Mexican mint is a first year perennial that I bought for the heck of it and now really like. Really disappointed that I have just about killed off a black & blue salvia.
Dear DG gardeners, Wow! What an incredible welcome I have received here in the garden. I have been blown away by all the kindness, support, interest, information etc...I am so happy to be here. I'm meeting wonderful folks, sharing photos and information, and haven't enjoyed a web site this much, ever...To all of you wonderful people who have taken the time to share...Thank YOU! Mary
Looking forward to spending even more time here in the garden.
